Finnish duo Terminé announce the release of their unique genre-blending debut 5-track EP, ‘Sideways’, set to drop on 18th December on Finnish label, Youth Control.

The project is the brainchild of the prolific Anton Sonin, accepted as one of Finland’s most established DJ/producers - having had releases with the likes of Anjunabeats, Spinnin’ Records and Universal Music - and sensational singer/songwriter Ben Andreas. Together the pair has created an EP that sits at the intersection of indie-rock and dance music, self-described as “new-wave indie-rock meets the infamous Panorama Bar at Berghain…influenced by the moody and epic atmosphere of french indie music, combined with 4/4 beats of kinda early-morning afterhours somewhere in East Berlin”.

I first heard this when I went to see the legendary Don Letts DJ at an out door gig a while back, as soon as I got home i looked up who had done this awesome version and found it was a French reggae group by the name of the Dynamics, needless to say I got a hold of the record with a quickness. I have been meaning to do an edit of this for a while now, and as I am approaching nearly 1000 followers I thought I might do a few special limited download edits over the coming weeks to say thank you to all the kind people that stop by and listen to the music I share.

Falqo - Someday (feat. Wild & Free)

This is one of those tracks that seems to hold a lot of memories for people I think, having been a significant mainstream track when it was released in 2002, and also a beautiful piece of music by any standards - it's one of those ones you may not remember from the name, but when you listen the riff and vocal (by none other than Hafdis Huld) it's unmistakable. It even reached no. 49 in the UK charts according to Wikipedia, so I'm officially remixing pop music now (sort of). As with some of my other recent remixes, there was no need (and I probably would have found it impossible anyway) to improve on the track melodically, as it's pretty close to perfection in that sense. I just tried to update the style of it, with some glitchy detailed drums, a sort of dubstep-ish influenced beat structure, a long evolving build throughout, and some distortion. This is being released on the legendary Skint records too, which I'm quite excited about.

Eucalyptus is a collaboration with Asheville based artist named @marley-carroll. 

This song is special because it's one of the last pieces of music I finished while living in Asheville, NC before moving to Los Angeles. 

The name Eucalyptus is inspired by the fresh smell of the essential oil. The feeling of that smell matches perfectly with early Spring greens in Asheville and this song is a perfect compliment to the two. Fresh electronic vibes mixed with DJ scratching and electric guitar.

A stateless trio (Japan, UK, Sweden), Tristesse Contemporaine chose Paris as their battleground. The sound of their first album, produced by Pilooski (Discodeine) in 2012, was immediately praised among the music scene and critics – raw and minimal, catchy yet mesmerizing, both poppy and spleen-heavy. Equally inspired by the ghosts of shoegaze, krautrock and Madchester, they aimed to write the soundtrack of an era that got lost into the nights. Vampires : in the shadow of new wave giants, a minimal prayer to make ghosts go away.

Woodwork : sun-drenched and languid, this is Tristesse Contemporaine’s very own version of a hymn for patience.

Low Tide : back on the dance floor for a perverted, drug-induced nursery rhyme. Higher than the sun.

After lurking at the edges of the clubs, Tristesse Contemporaine now is crawling out of the woodwork. A new album is to be released in September on Record Makers/Dirty. No one will survive...
