"We are Monologue, long-time friends and collaborators Aroma Nice and Earl Grey, and this is our new EP, Acid Settee. These tunes are the fruits of a collaborative tug of war between the two of us, over the course of one English summer. Pretty much all the music here has been done remotely, starting with the editing of the other guy’s hardware jams, trading stems and samples, putting a different spin on something and sending it back just a little bit more broken, or just completely remixing something previously unfinished. Our tastes as individuals don’t always align so we’re proud to have been able to agree on something for long enough to compromise and get these beats finished and out there to find listeners. "Hello, my friends. It’s a big honor for me to release this EP on YUKU because I sincerely love lots of releases of this label and follow them practically since the day they started. I’ve created 5 tracks specially for this release.

They turned out to be very diverse, quite different, but at the same time cohesive.
5 tracks — like 5 variations and 5 stairs of my life. The cover by my friend, Kyiv-based artist Bohdan Burenko, perfectly outlines the mood of this EP. It shows 5 faces, 5 characters, and 5 stories.

I should mention that some demos for these tracks I wrote back in 2018, when I lived in California. And the basis for ‘The Wall’ I wrote in the suburbs of Los Angeles in a small town Walnut. This explains the song title. Back then, I listened to a lot of old-school Metalheadz tracks, and I guess this music had a big impact on the atmosphere of this track. Same story with ‘Runnin’ Out’ - I made the demo in US, then finished it when I was preparing the release for YUKU. ‘Offset Range1’ is my personal favorite. I wrote it in Kyiv, when I had Covid and
was tweaking knobs on my sampler and automation on my synth. 99’ is my nostalgia for good ol’ breakbeat and ‘Vezhlivy Otkaz’ has the most unusual drop I have ever written. Of course, it’s an honor for me to have a remix by Tim Reaper on board, because I’m his fan.

I’m writing this text now in Kyiv. Because of Russian invasion, I’m not sure what my future will be like, but I don’t see any reason to postpone this release. All the profit from this EP I’d like to send for the charity & restoration of the infrastructure of Ukraine.

Granul is a visionary producer and genre-fluid tech creator with a sound that delves deep into texture while carrying enough weight to place it firmly in sound-system culture. He integrates elements from old-school club music, hip hop, break, and left-field bass; his sound includes heavy and layered bass-lines, organic percussion, old-school breaks, and deep, thunderous dark matter. His intention is to meld old and new techniques, and AI algorithms, deep learning, and programming are the main elements of his sonic production. Granul perceives sound synesthetically; he visualises rhythmic, digital, and progressive sounds as geometric shapes. Sensory mutations are primary in his renowned audio-visual artworks born out of unique street data collected in Istanbul.

Counting from one to ten is one of the first things we learn when we try to speak a new language. It's also a universal language we use in our beats. Numbers are the inspiration source of this album, and its roots are in the inherent rhythmical existence of numbers in music. There is a numerical theme in all the tracks. We close out this roster with an audiophile, an explorer of the universe of sound, and an eager researcher of the relationships between music and people. A.Fruit’s music reflects her inner world and emotional interactions with the outer world.

Anna Fruit was born in 1989 in Moscow, which was still USSR at the time. Her passion for music began in childhood at school, she played the guitar and sang her songs to friends. In 2008, while studying sociology at Moscow State University, she discovered Ableton Live, and it changed her life. She started making music and decided to get a second education as a sound engineer to improve her craft. In 2012 Anna graduated from the University and simultaneously completed her certificate in audio engineering. Then, for some years she worked as a sound technician on TV channels, in parallel continuing to produce electronic music. 

A.Fruit found her 160 bpm-focused sound somewhere between her longtime love of DnB, jungle, hip-hop, and especially footwork. Her professional music career began in 2015, fast forward to 2023 and she has built an impressive discography with 8 EPs and a multitude of original tracks and remixes on compilations worldwide. Her music has appeared on labels including YUKU, Cosmic Bridge, Med School, Teklife, Rua Sound, Sequel One Records, Black Marble Collective, and plenty more. On tours, Anna delivers a blend of 160-170 bpm from footwork and jungle to future beats and halftime.
Outside of her music, A.Fruit creates sound effects and music of other genres for PC games (Gremlins, Inc., Spire of Sorcery, Pathfinder) and provides digital mastering in her home studio.

A mix of two halves — two separate sets from a recent YUKU night at Planeta Za in Prague — one at the very beginning, the opening set, and the other one around peak time. It's imperfect, improvised, and recorded from the club environment, but I never prepare mixes anyway, so they are always imperfect and exploratory, and I embrace that :)
