Let’s flow June 2nd

NON-FICTION was written between 2017 and 2020, and recorded on a Tascam-388 in the band’s since-torn-down rental home. Bryce Cloghesy (Military Genius, Crack Cloud) produced and mixed the record, which trades in the first EP’s martial rigidity for a broader approach to actualizing the band’s tensions. The Vancouver tear-down, previously the band’s headquarters for producing music, videos, and clothing, was slowly evacuated, as members moved out in advance of the inevitable. N0V3L, once a concentrated machine, is now spread across the western province of British Columbia.

Yula and Fernando met in Mallorca where in 2018 they begun
work on an experimental project at the crossroads of dj culture and
pop song writing. Their tracks are weaved with dreams and memories
which sound as welcoming as the breeze of cold wave and balearic beat.

Riff & Ruff sont de retour et continuent de cultiver l'art du contre-pied avec une première heure moite et tendue tandis que la seconde, confiée à DJ Prez du collectif de passeurs et ambianceurs Analog Dakar Club, est la mise en musique du livre "Les Grands" de Sylvain Prudhomme au sujet du mythique groupe Guissau-Binéen "Super Mama Djombo". Le livre raconte, le temps d'une journée où le groupe se reforme, l'histoire de ses membres fondateurs à travers leur grandeur passée, les rêves trahis et une bonne dose de saudade révolutionnaire...servi par un groove implacable.

La bande-son imaginée par l'érudit DJ Prez regroupe des morceaux (très rares à trouver pour certains) issus de leurs mythiques albums qui ont tous été enregistrés pendant la même session et des tracks de José Carlos Schwarz et son Cobiana Jazz, leur mentor politique et musical, ainsi que quelques références à Amilcar Cabral, le père de l'indépendance.

Futuristic musical pioneer Dave P has devoted himself to finding sonic adventures that operate beyond the realms of the physical for many years. Through his residencies at Making Time in Philadelphia, and at FIXED at Good Room in New York, Dave P channels this very notion, as well as through his Making Time show on New York's Lot Radio.

Over the last couple of months, due to social distancing measures, Dave has been working Klip Collective - a creative studio run by video artist and projection mapping pioneer Ricardo Rivera - to create a video, light and sound experience to match the auditory experience on his Making Time shows. 

He continues this exploration for today's Ransom Note mix titled 'A Making Time X Klip TRANSCENDENTAL Social Distancing™ Experience with Dave P', providing listeners with a 360 degree experience that goes beyond the physical.

15th ИДА release is coming from Saint-Petersburg based Anastasia Zems. She delivers EP full of mystery, weird grooves, tribal elements, field recorded samples paired with her psychedelic vocals and ad-libs.

On the remixes we welcome our friend, Karakter records’ own Pedro Martins, who transforms ‘African Fairytale’ into lush laidback breakbeat voyage, while on another one we see comeback of Aristidez who pushes the energy up on ‘359011_01’ and raises the trippy feel of the track.

Watching Abul Mogard’s Live performance in Atonal Festival 2017 and his releases on Not Waving’s Ecstatic record label were somewhat of a milestone in Malka Tuti’s sonic aesthetics. His ability to touch with those pulsating sonic textures com-ing out of his modular machine inspired MTHQ for years to come. Label crew was more then happy that Mogard chose to contact Tapan about their album and eventually deciding to remix not one but two track from the Belgrade duo… It was like a circle coming to a close.
On the A-side Mogard take the original 17 minute sax infused piece that is EUROPA and drenches it with drones and low freq pulses and atmosphere, creating a some sort of a post apoca-lyptic intense atmospheric soundtrack. The effect of drowning the horns from the original track in a sea of drones and pads, contributes to the over all impression of listening to a distant memory of music… fitting for days like these....
On the B-side Mogard takes it to the next level, capturing a line from Tapan's original collaboration with Jerusalem In My Heart's Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, and passing it through his modular system, amalgamating an epic piece of tension build ups and repetitive movements...
The original artwork was made by artist Marja de Sanctis and adapted, as always, to the sleeve by Morey Talmor.

Yula Kasp is a songwriter/singer/producer based in Paris, France.
In 2016 she released "Ocean Blues" (digital mini-lp) on the Parisian imprint Kill the DJ.  A vinyl with remixes by Pilooski and Rebolledo is available.
Her fist project 'Spacer' (composed entirely with the poems of her grandmother Wanda Trampczynska) was released on Polskie Radio in 2011.
Mayumi is her new project with MI.RO of which the debut EP was released via the sub label of Correspondent; Dischi Autunno.
