The Requiem of Shevannai opens up during the final battle between the two remaining armies of Sylvania. Cut-scene to the final blow between the opposing High Mages...which annihilated not just the Elvish armies, but wrought unholy devastation to the entire land.

In the aftermath of the battle, during a thunderstorm that rains hail and ash heavy on the lands, the one survivor of the armies, the ancient sorceress Shevannai composes an elegy for any other survivors across the realm.

In sorrow and outrage, she weaves an incantation to allow all survivors across the realm to hear her whisper:

"Listen. Listen closely.
The war is lost.
The betrayal was beyond imagining.
Unholy magic.
Unholy ambition.
But it is not over. It is not over."
