@Throwingsnow ’s fourth album is the audiovisually-augmented Dragons, a work that occupies the space between science and ancestral wisdom. It links music back to its prehistoric capacity for transmitting knowledge to new technology that can untangle the complexity of the contemporary world. Dragons’ ten tracks of heavy primal rhythmic productions incorporate the physicality of acoustic sources, from ancient ritual instruments to modern drum kit, and each track is accompanied by visuals generated by a neural network.

"I listened to the Dragons album with the ambition to translate it into a visual language. 
I wanted to visually convey earthy, organic textures with a modern, hyperreal edge. The machine learning latent space interpolations are a perfect tool to evoke the uncanny, unreality from algorithmically synthesised morphing video. I trained three StyleGAN2 models on abiotic surface datasets of increasing scales. This produced morphing, machine-made visions of crystalline microscopy, rocky surfaces and the topography of the entire Earth as originally seen by the Landsat 8 observation satellite. "

London-based artist Javano (Shogun Audio / Celsius Recordings), delivers a superb album, showcasing his diverse array of styles. An eleven track LP, with five of them getting served up on a slab of wax. It arrives on Temple of Sound, who's discography has standout releases from the likes of Pugilist (AD93 / 3024) & founder Sub Basics (Lion Charge / Mosaic)

The album screams of high-quality production, floating between flavours of dubbed out drum & bass, deep house and dub-techno. The complex rhythmic structures standout throughout, with Javano's signature dub-wise tone encompassing it all. It's been a big wait for Temple of Sound since they last put out music into the world, but boy does this release make it worth it, it's superb.

The 2nd instalment of Polish pianist Piotr Wiese’s split single Ídiopáthē is out now! Known for his romantic approach to the instrument, this debut in the electronic / ambient realm is absolute fire. The opener 'Ídio' is a sun soaked electronic number with a driving back beat, sampling and bubbling synths. It is catchy, infectious and downright expertly crafted. The closer 'Páthē' is a reflective ambient number at once spacious and vulnerable. With such an impeccable first foray in the genre, we can't wait to see what's next. Just after the start of lockdown, Hodge aka Jacob Martin released his debut LP, Shadows In Blue, his first foray into the world of the long player.
