Desert Circuit bridges East and West with precision electronics and living tradition. Across ten cuts, anonymous guest DJs fold maqam colors (Hijaz, Nahawand) and raga phrasing into grid-tight sequencers, darbouka/tabla syncopations, and micro-bent synths. The result is kinetic but spacious: drums breathe like sand winds, melodies bloom from overtones, and bass moves with caravan weight. Part of the Fixer Daily Drops series, this Collaboration Edition keeps the spotlight on form and feeling rather than names—inviting listeners to hear cities through signal and groove.

In Synthetic Music: Desert Circuit, Fixer maps a signal path across the Middle East and India, where acoustic ornament becomes digital geometry. Each track pairs modern synth architecture with hand-played percussive dialects—Maqsoum, Saidi, Keharwa—treated not as exotic motifs but as engines for pattern and lift. Anonymous guests contribute under city-coded aliases to foreground sound over identity: Nile Parallax (Cairo), Wadi Meridian (Amman), PinkCity Array (Jaipur), Cedar Phase (Beirut), Westbank Oscillator (Luxor), Monsoon Logic (Mumbai), Ringroad Relay (Delhi), Bosphorus Bit (Istanbul), Ghat Sequence (Varanasi), and DXB Pulse (Dubai). Swinging, psych'd out techno bombs from Taraval on TEXT.   The title track 'Aardvark' has been whipping festivals and dance floors into a frenzy all summer long when played by the likes of Four Tet, Daphni, Floating points and more.   One of the most Track ID requested tunes of the summer.

Taking their name from the neighbouring family of galaxies that contains the Milky Way, London duo Local Group may sound parochial but unleash cosmic scale energies on their debut 12”.

Inspired by their sets at UK festival Field Maneuvers, the 'dirty little rave' that the duo are residents at (playing alongside the likes of Mark Archer and Storm), title track 'Laser Dome' distills their unashamed love of hardcore's E fuelled rush into a haze of piano euphoria. Underground electro hero Dexorcist remixes it for the 140bpm crew, a rude bouncing bassline and hyper breakbeats keeping its continuum credentials in check.

On the flip 'Random Utterances' nods to the slower, darker, proggier breakbeat favoured by Tyrant at the start of the new millennium, bubbling acid bass, arpeggios, moody strings and '80s synth pop combining with interludes of lucid drug philosophising and distorted 808 bass. 'Rampage' signs off with a potent dose of pure jump up energy, a 150bpm Reese bassline tear out, complete with MC hype, drawing on the pair's love of jungle.

Lead track 'Loos In Twos (NRG)' goes turbo, with a ruffneck bassline, clattering breakbeats and dramatic rave stab breakdowns all combining to memorable, killer effect. On the B side, 'Gary Mission' gets loose with disorientating flanged FX and a wriggling low end, with the minimal beat track 'Stepper' using sharp vocal snippets and chest-rattling sub to light up the dance. Anz is a DJ and Producer based in Manchester (via London, Liverpool and Madrid). The idea behind the song was to enlighten people's moods because of the lockdowns as everybody is feeling sad that they can't go to clubs, festivals or venues due to COVID-19. 

Dancin' is a very uplifting and catchy tune what anyone can dance to or sing along too. For me it's a track that sends an important message to people worldwide to keep on going and to stick together through music and of course by Dancin'.
