The sample is "Smoking Room," my favorite song by Codeine. I was driving home from work listening to Lord Linco thinking I'd like to work with him. When I arrived, I found a message from him suggesting a collaboration, which I took to be lucky. I made the beat that night and sent it to Linco, who sent back the chorus and it sat on my laptop for a month.

In August 2015 Horse Head, Yung Bruh, Ryan Gothling and I went on a short southwestern tour. The drives were insane, 24+ hours non-stop at times between cities in Texas and back to LA so that I could get back to my shitty job. On the second leg of our return trip from Austin to LA Bruh rode shotgun with my laptop playing beats through the speakers as we flew through west Texas nothingness. He heard the track with Linco's chorus, liked it and decided to record. He plugged headphones in and recorded vocals directly into the computer as we drove 100 mph. It was done in forty minutes, mixed and exported. We listened to it probably fifty times before we got back to LA.
