About the Mix: 

My parents took me on my first camping trip when I was 3 years old. It wasn’t until I was 30 that I attended my first camping festival. Three weeks after that I attended my second camping festival, Bohême Système, where I played and recorded this mix.

I grew up in a rural place and spent a lot of time in nature. My personal connection to nature was one of few things (along with music) that felt truly genuine to me before I fully embraced my queerness. That impacted the way I approached playing and the mix that resulted in really felt like me at my fullest. I've been sharing it around privately, but when Iris asked me to make a mix for ULA something clicked and releasing this just felt right.

This mix is from 2023. Bohême Système didn’t happen in its regular sense in 2024, but I hear that they will be back in full force for 2025!

Ali Berger takes SPACEGH0ST’s debut release for a pumping ride. 

Nick Boyd’s Sorry Records label has quickly become one of my go-to's. Launched in 2015, their back catalogue so far has housed releases from the likes of Darian, Escaflowne, Matt FX, Tony G, DJ Wawa, C Powers and Ma Sha Ru to name a few. It’s an incredibly well-curated imprint with lots of killer releases coming up in the pipeline. 

Today’s release is the first from mysterious Denver-based artist SPACEGH0ST with the only information given to the world is that they’re a ‘mid-level government employee by day, acid house astronaut by night’. A thrilling double-life! As the lead single propels you on a 140+ bpm outer space acid journey, Spectral Sound/Sweat Equity’s Ali Berger flips the switch with a classy cord-laden House Coaster mix - reminiscent of 90s American deep house sound of Kerri Chandler, King Street Sounds and Nite Grooves.

It would be wrong not to mention the insane artwork for the EP by Zack Handler, perfectly summing up the intergalactic fierceness of ‘Space Coaster’.

Like us all, midroll has had plenty of time over the past 6 months of Isolation here in Victoria. A large portion of this time has been dedicated to finding gold while crate digging and it shows. In our first instalment you can expect to hear a culmination of fresh tracks and some of midroll’s absolute faves. With peaks of energy and a solid rolling rhythm this mix is a taste of what we will (hopefully) be dancing to at the clubs this summer.
