Yung Kaioken, is an American rapper, songwriter, and producer. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, he first discovered his love for making music at a young age and under dire circumstances.

When he was eight years old he was removed from his childhood home, where he lived with his single mother and two older brothers. He and his 10-year-old brother were placed with a foster family for about two years, which he says "cut much deeper than expected." Shortly after he returned to his mother's home in 2005, the city was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, which yung kaioken claims "took [his] whole childhood from [him]."

At the age of 10, as his family and community began to rebuild their former lives, his oldest brother introduced him to the Fruity Loops 6 DAW. The moment he laid his little eyes on that program, he says, he knew that this was going to be his calling and escape from his reality. He learned everything within the DAW very quickly and started making music, which led him to pick up instruments like guitar and piano as well.

Though yung kaioken strives to turn his passion into a career someday, the creative process remains an important part of his life regardless of who is listening: "I never cared what people thought of my music, and still don't because it makes me happy and it reminds me always of how I used it to get my emotions out when no one else was listening. That's why music will always be a part of me."
