WRATH OF TITANIUM LAZER CAT

Have you ever felt "In a Funk"? Feeling uninspired, unmotivated, or emotionally low?

This original musical creation was my way of lifting "Out of Funk", hence the title, by taking action through experimenting with a new genre of music I had never explored - electro-funk. This creative process allowed me to emerge from a state of feeling unmotivated and emotionally low to a renewed sense of energy, motivation and inspiration through the use of various types of virtual instruments such as Hammond B3 emulation with Leslie rotary HP, pipe organs, palm-muted guitars, and percussions.
This project also provided ideal grounds for a musical collaboration with a musician friend who took an interest in my project. "Out of Funk" now features CE François Couture (an experimental musician, improviser, and multi-instrumentalist) on vocals, replacing the initial robotic voice from an online narrator. François also contributed an original bass line to the track, instantly generating a funky groove to the track.

This collaboration brought a fresh perspective and funkiness to my initial draft composition that lead to a great musical co-creation.

In essence, feeling out of funk can serve as a catalyst for artistic growth and innovation. By embracing these moments of creative struggle, musicians can tap into profound emotions and uncover new pathways of musical expression. Ultimately, what emerges from this process is often transformative, both for the artist and their audience.

Avez-vous déjà ressenti un sentiment d'être "In a Funk" (en plein marasme) ? Vous sentez-vous sans inspiration, démotivé ou émotionnellement bas ?

Cette création musicale originale était ma manière de sortir de cet état de "marasme" en prenant action via l'expérimentation avec un nouveau genre musical que je n'avais jamais exploré auparavant - l'électro-funk.
Ce processus créatif m'a permis de sortir d'un état de démotivation et de basse émotionnelle pour retrouver un renouveau d'énergie, de motivation et d'inspiration. Le tout en utilisant différents types d'instruments virtuels tels que l'émulation Hammond B3 à HP Leslie rotatif, des orgues à tuyaux, des guitares avec palm mute et diverses percussions. Ce projet a également fourni un terrain idéal pour une collaboration musicale avec un ami musicien qui s'est intéressé à mon projet. "Out of Funk" met maintenant en vedette CE François Couture (musicien expérimental, improvisateur et multi-instrumentiste) au chant, remplaçant ainsi la voix robotique initiale provenant d'un narrateur en ligne. François a également contribué au projet en composant une piste de basse originale, créant instantanément un groove funky.

Cette collaboration a apporté une nouvelle perspective et une touche de funk à mon premier brouillon de composition qui a ultérieurement résulté en une formidable co-création musicale.

En essence, se sentir "out of funk" peut servir de catalyseur pour la croissance et l'innovation artistiques. En embrassant ces moments de lutte créative, les musiciens peuvent puiser dans des émotions profondes et découvrir de nouvelles voies d'expression musicale. Finalement, ce qui émerge de ce processus est souvent transformateur, tant pour l'artiste que pour son public.

I wanted to suspend the Laptop Chop series with a bang. Tomorrow my studio equipment arrives. I'm hoping I'll be moved in and back in practice, learning protools and a keyboard/midi, working with samples and using a turn table again by the end of May.
If I ever get to put an overture on an album, this will probably be it.
