'Rinne', Japanese for reincarnation, is the inspired sonic culmination of Yunna's personal journey toward self-acceptance, self-love, motherhood, and the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. The five-track release traverses Yunna’s sonic past, carrying the torch for the hardcore continuum while articulating a fresh sound that bridges the gap between her classical music background and her love of underground sounds like jungle, footwork and hip hop.

Worst Behavior Recs is thrilled to share our next release, Rinne, the debut EP from Taiwan native, LA resident Yunna @yunnamusic. "Rinne", Japanese for reincarnation, is the inspired sonic culmination of Yunna's personal journey toward self acceptance, self love, motherhood, and the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. The five track release traverses Yunna’s sonic past, carrying the torch for the hardcore continuum while articulating a fresh sound that bridges the gap between her classical music background and her love of underground sounds like jungle, footwork and hiphop.

Discovering her unique artistic voice has been a long journey of losing and reclaiming herself many times over. As a third culture kid, she struggled for years to understand her identity and express all the dynamic parts of herself–classically-trained musician, raver, promoter, fashion designer, and more. From taking on an American name to fit into her new home in the Bay, to years of performing in environments in the US and Asia where she felt pigeonholed, she was deeply frustrated by consistently feeling she was not allowed to fully express herself. After a long career performing as “Wolfbaby”, she changed her name to Yunna as part of the reclamation of her Asian roots and re-birthing of herself as an artist.

During an isolated covid pregnancy, Yunna was forced to reckon with her identity as an artist, as an Asian in America, and a mother-to-be, and truly ask herself what her legacy to her child would be. Facing up to her old fears and insecurities to finish a work wholly representing her, she felt brand new, reborn. When she came across the Rinne Kokyogaku, or Reincarnated Orchestra, a concept album by Geinoh Yamashirogumi* about the eternal cycles of birth, death, and rebirth, Yunna found a concept in line with both her beliefs as a Buddhist and experience reinventing herself as an artist.

Rinne perfectly summarized her last 7 year cycle of life, just in time for new births–her first child and first EP.

Following Yunna's debut EP "Rinne," Worst Behavior Recs is thrilled to share two very special remixes by artists who have directly inspired Yunna's eclectic production style. In “Rinne (Remixed)”, Addison Groove and Fixate deliver fresh takes on her tracks "Day" and "Sea", further elevating the EP’s unique sound. 

Rinne is the inspired sonic culmination of Yunna's personal journey toward self acceptance, self love, motherhood, and the cycle of birth, death, and re-birth. The EP carries the torch for the hardcore continuum while articulating a fresh sound that bridges the gap between her classical background and love of underground sounds like jungle, footwork and hip hop. It made perfect sense to collab with musical inspirations Addison Groove and Fixate on the remixes. 

Addison Groove, the Bristol-based legend known for his genre-bending approach to dance music, takes "Day" to new rave euphoria heights. Starting with melodic key stabs and Yunna’s ethereal vocal chops, he turns “Day” into a hypnotic and atmospheric journey that blends elements of garage, Chicago house, and jungle. With a career spanning well over a decade, Addison Groove has established himself as an undeniable innovative force in dance music. He has made founding contributions in dubstep, footwork, juke, bass and the many beautiful spaces in between, releasing music on labels such as Swamp 81, Tectonic, Hyperdub and Gutterfunk. Addison Groove continues to push the boundaries of genre and sound, inspiring and exciting audiences around the world with no sign of slowing down.

Fixate, the London based multi-genre sensation and Exit Records affiliate, transforms "Sea" into a total sub workout of wobbling bass and jungle breaks. The rising star of the UK drum & bass and dubstep scenes is known for his dynamic dj sets and innovative productions. His music is characterized by its intricate rhythms, heavy basslines, and eclectic influences, drawing upon everything from jungle and hip hop to techno and dubstep. With his unique sound design and experimental approach to production and DJing, Fixate has quickly established himself as one of the most forward-thinking and exciting artists in the UK DnB scene.

In addition to digital release on June 22nd, both remixes and all the original tracks on “Rinne” will be available for purchase on a limited-edition lathe-cut record. This exclusive offering adds a tangible and collectible element to the release, allowing fans to fully immerse themselves in Yunna's visionary sonic world.

1. Tell us about past and future releases you have:

My debut EP was released in 2023 on Anna Morgan and Bell Curve’s label Worst Behavior, my second EP was released in October 2024 on The Glitch Mob’s label, All The People. I have also released a couple of tracks on compilations for these two labels. Coming up in February, I plan to self release some jungle edit packs of some throwback RnB songs, as well as my favorite K-Pop songs. 


2. Tell us about gigs you have coming up:

On 1/31 I will be opening for Saka in Los Angeles at the Echoplex, and on 2/1 we will be appearing together again in San Francisco!

3. Who are your favorite Jungle & Footwork artists at the moment?

I would say my favorite producers of these genres at the moment would be UFO!, Thys, LMajor, Fixate, and Rohaan.

Wolfbaby is a Taiwan native, raised in the Bay Area and is currently residing in Los Angeles, CA. Her style in music has a lil bit of everything for everyone. Growing up with a strong musical background, her influences were inherited through being classically trained in piano, violin, and percussion. From Jazz melodies to orchestral compositions, then later exploring the worlds of Disco, Funk, Soul, House, Techno, Hip-Hop, RnB, Trap and beyond. Her unique taste allow her to be eclectic, dynamic and versatile in her own original arrangements alongside live performances.

From her humble beginnings as a Bay Area promoter, she’s worked hard in preserving and exciting the bass music scene since 2006. Her natural flavor and inviting persona have helped define her as a tastemaker amongst several creative communities.They also contributed to earned roles in acclaimed residencies, such as the multi-award winning Bay Area party: Trap City.

She has since been full speed ahead in the fast lane on her road to success, while also building a global audience playing in various parts of Asia for respected nightlife entities like VH1 India, Beam in Bangkok & Piu Piu in Saigonto name a few. In hard hitting fashion, while smoothly integrating sensuality and femininity, Wolfbaby sets are designed to allure you to the dance floor.

Stylistically, her classical music background sustains her commitment to truly solid theoretical and well-constructed tracks, Over the years, Wolfbaby has supported a wide array of live and electronic musical acts such as Modeselektor, Tokimonsta, Metro Boomin,Troyboi, and more, often covering multiple genres during her performances. Her unique blend of bass music, RnB, House, Techno, Garage, Trap, Dubstep, Jungle and Drum n Bass, has brought her all around the world to perform at festivals, clubs, and underground parties alike. Most recently, she has been keeping busy with other artists collaborating on experimental tracks working on sound design, to release original music with her influences, energy and unique style into the world, while continuing to hone her skills as a DJ and live musician.
