A regular contributor to the finest dance music imprints of the underground scene, Simos Tagias makes a welcome debut on Meanwhile with his 'Euphoria' EP.

Bursting onto the scene in late 2012 and early 2013 with a clutch of releases on Modu and Lynx Records, Simos Tagias has overseen a career path with a steady upwards trajectory that has since seen some 400 production credits to his name. Indeed, Clubsonica Records, Mango Alley and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music have all played regular host to the Greek artist’s work, not to mention successful releases on Cid Inc.’s Replug and Aly & Fila’s hugely successful FSOE.

Now opening his account on GMJ & Matter’s ever-growing Meanwhile, 'Euphoria' immediately impresses as a collage of elements fly across the sonic spectrum while a clicking ambient effect and grooved percussion provide dance floor character. Building in effervescent fashion, reversed synth motifs vie with delicately delayed phrases as a plethora of spot effects swim enticingly around the listener’s head. Winding up after a dizzying breakdown, the third movement carefully combines all the elements introduced in the earlier stages through a mind-melting melange of frequencies that pitches and falls in an innovative wall of sound Phil Spector would be proud of.

'Emotion' is a high-octane offering powering forward with chest-thumping kick and immaculately syncopated percussive groove. White noise infused synth motifs soon fill the sonic spectrum as a rapid-fire 16th note bassline carries the melodic elements with ease. Full of emotion and beautifully flowing synth lines, the track reaches its musical zenith at the breakdown before hitting its stride in the second half where all elements converge in lay lines of raw power and emotion.

Yunok est une DJ et compositrice de musique électronique basée à Lyon, dont l’univers sonore se distingue par une fusion captivante d’atmosphères envoûtantes et de rythmiques intenses. Reconnue pour son énergie contagieuse et son style vibrant, elle transporte son audience dans des voyages immersifs où émotions profondes et pulsations dancefloor se rencontrent.

Originaire de Séoul, Yunok s'est forgée une place sur la scène électronique lyonnaise depuis plus de dix ans. Ses débuts auprès du collectif Wallas Syndicate et de son collaborateur Fab-V ont donné naissance à l'alias Elektronik Gangsters, sous lequel ils ont produit des morceaux sortis sur des labels internationaux comme Red Ant, Uxmal Records, VL Records, Kare Digital Records, et Stereo Enchained.

Depuis, Yunok a perfectionné son art, mêlant créativité et authenticité, pour devenir une artiste incontournable. Elle s’est produite sur des scènes prestigieuses comme Les Nuits Sonores, Evasion Festival, et d’autres événements emblématiques à Lyon, Grenoble, Montpellier, et au-delà. Son style oscille entre minimale, tech-house, progressive house et techno, offrant des sets envoûtants et toujours marqués par une recherche sonore minutieuse.

Que ce soit en tant que DJ ou compositrice, Yunok incarne une vision unique de la musique électronique, portée par une passion sincère pour l'exploration musicale et le partage d'émotions puissantes.

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
