The 2024 festival season was filled from start to finish with good times, incredible music and amazing humans across all the wonderful events we played. This season we were asked by Earth Beat Festival to run a stage takeover right at the end of the season, what a way to cap it all off! 

We put together a lineup the we are incredibly proud of; it was diverse, fun, filled with talented musicians and didn't cater to just one type of four to the floor. We asked our artists to record if they felt comfortable, we are very grateful that most of them did. We are also very grateful they are all allowing us to release their work.

Our first DJ for the day was the wonderful Yunset. Heylady first heard her while they were having a jam at a ski lodge on a mountain last winter, her ear was turned with Yunset's selections. We asked her to open the stage on Saturday night for our beloved Hijinxx at this summer's Ignition Festival and she impressed us so much we brought her back in for Earth Beat. We foresee plenty more awesome sets from this fresh DJ, we will definitely be on her dancefloor. 

In her own words:

"When asked to open the Communicate stage takeover at Earthbeat, I knew exactly what a fun opportunity I was being gifted and I felt incredibly grateful. I wanted there to be a few twists and turns, while keeping the tone positive and uplifting throughout. My aim was to align with the Earth Beat ethos of bringing together different generations, sounds and backgrounds, to make sure the music would appeal to all ages and suit the colourful sunny vibe on the day. The smiles and energy on the dancefloor were such a joy to experience, setting the tone for the lineup of pure talent that Mel and Cyril had carefully curated."

"Sun-kissed Saturday vibes by the river at the stunning Zen Den stage 🌞✨. 
I had the absolute honor of opening my set with a beautiful, soon-to-be-released track based on a poem by Allen Ginsberg, produced by the incredibly talented @Diereva. Huge thanks for trusting me to be the first to bring this gem to the dancefloor. 

A massive shoutout to Gio and the Silk Collective for having me, and to Rowena for being the best road trip partner/videographer/ the dancefloor goddess of smiles

I’m so excited to share this bouncy set with you—packed with all the feels and a mix of emotions to set the tone for 2025. I hope you enjoy the ride!

Yunset 🔥 @ Sorry Mum I’m on K. Road JUL25

Raised backstage on a balanced European diet of techno, punk and world music, Yunset has been known to be the last one standing on dance floors around the globe. She finally took the step to switch sides and get behind the decks, to share music that makes her want to dance ♥️

Drawing from many influences, her sets weave deep underground grooves with playful twists, carrying dancers from laid-back flow to full-throttle energy before they know it.
Adaptable by nature, she shapes her sound to the time, place and crowd — moving with ease between bouncey downtempo, bass-driven mid-tempo, and grittier, harder beats. The outcome is her signature: a dancefloor alive with smiles, shapes and contagious self-expression

Her summer 2024 performances at Ignition and opening for the Communicate stage takeover at Earth Beat grabbed the attention of an ever growing loyal dancefloor, who continue to ask for "more please!" despite her best attempts to remain elusive. Highlights of her NZ 2025 summer were Dimension, Newtown and Earth Beat festivals amongst many others.
