Yuri deepfrequency radio show mix

Yuri began her artisitc life as a ballet dancer, studying classical movement from the age of six. This childhood experience developed into a continuing fascination with dance as she grew up. During the late nineties, she took to the stage as a a hip-hop dancer at clubs in Japan. After experiencing several dance music events in 2002, she knew that a change in direction was close at hand.

Unlike many DJ’s , she tried her hand at production before getting behind the decks. She began making music, and yearned for the interaction and energy of a  live audience. She bought her first techno records, and began her journey as a DJ. Yuri’s style has since simmered down to the essence of house, disco, and funk, with a zest for experimentation.

She curated, promoted, and performed at her own events in Osaka, Japan from 2004-2009, hosting Extrawelt, Minilogue, Cassy, and the Female Pressure artist roster, featuring Electric Indigo.

The thriving dance music scene in Germany drew her to Berlin at the end of 2009, where she feels truly at home within the city’s underground music community.
