"A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day" EP is comprised of 7 tracks recorded in Kazan and Moscow during various sessions. Some of them go back as early as 2014 and everything is composed on two 8-track samplers. 

Alina Izolenta and Kamil Ea were born in the USSR, so the origin of the acronym PTU is embedded in everyday life of a country which no longer exists. The duo spent their childhood in Siberia and on Volga, and their salad days in music schools and early clubs of their respective home cities. 

Back then accessing the internet was only possible via pre-paid cards that came in envelopes. Music — via pirate CDs and endlessly slow mp3 downloads. Friendships would stem from copying music from hard drive to hard drive. The name PTU came to life in the middle of 00s, in a rented apartment, literally the last building in some steet on the outskirts, over impromptu synth sessions with friends.

Keeno18, also known as Reginald James Johnson, was the youngest contestant to win Nickelodeon’s Legends of the Hidden Temple. He completed the Shrine of the Silver Monkey with one second to spare and in that quantum moment, Keeno18 was born. It would set the foundation for his debut album. ‘Hidden Temple’ is the second release from the strikingly bizarre 2016 release ’Channel 18’, which created the tone for the Keeno18 musical signature. He blends a sick sense of humor with heartfelt emotions, textured over a warm plate of GET LOOSE. Perhaps the most captivating aspect is the fluidity throughout the album, like coming across a transparent reality in the middle of the Rain Forest Cafe.

French imprint Rave Or Die inaugurates its first compilation release since its inception back in . Featuring four uncompromising anthems from heavyweight producers The Mover, The Hacker, Minimum Syndicat and the label owner Umwelt, in this collectible 2x10" breaks the boundaries between 90's Rave and Doom styles sets and offers an ex-plosive limited edition. Within five years, Rave Or Die has made a solid reputation of Rave music purveyor thanks to a recognizable artistic line, a brilliant catalog of producers and a proper format (10inch only!). With releases from the like of Sunil Sharpe, Minimum Syndicat, Chris Moss Acid, Voiron, Drvg Cvltvre, and of course ROD mastermind Umwelt, ROD sets the standard of future classics. Since 2012, the French label redefines a musical genre born three decades ago. Who said the 90's were behind us?

@second_storey 'Attack of the Modlings' starts with a cosmic Drexciyan warm-up, setting the mood for a snappy interplay between intricate textures and glitchy bleeps. Disintegrated machine-gun drums occasionally converge with multi-directional bassy moves, gut-punching kicks and devilish vocals, serving as the mind-bending vanishing points of the track.

Second Storey returns to Houndstooth with a sublime presentation of bass driven, meticulously crafted tracks that again deftly display a balancing act between the delicate and the riotous. 

Alec Storey’s new LP is informed not only by his own movements between the Suffolk countryside and London, but by the recurring patterns of displacement taking place in the larger world, the dizzying effects of disorientation and recalibration. 

These songs are sonically and emotionally complex experiences laden with reflections on exodus and homecoming. While Storey was negotiating his sense of home on a personal level, the U.K. was critically reconsidering its own identity and its rules of hospitality at the same time. 

And notably, London was in the midst of a purge of the institutions that helped cement its important status as a forerunner of nightlife culture. 

Inevitably, such disruption was put to use by the artist. In his words “Towards the end of my time in Suffolk there was the terrible news of Britain leaving the EU and also fabric was heinously closed down. 

This on top of me feeling somewhat isolated affected the music i was writing…I wrote 3 very angry tracks in the 3 days after the closing.” It can be heard in the electro backbone and industrial tooth grind of “Ajunlei”, in the Drexciyan stomp of “No Such Location”, and on tracks like “Off Beat World” a monster of a jam that has jazzy angular percussion jerking in every which way. 

It is not all fisticuffs though. Significantly, Storey also has a true penchant for creating music deeply rooted in bass and rhythm that immediately asks the body to respond, all the while subtly working away on the listener with an ulterior motive to coax them into contemplation. 

“Covehithe” -named for a cliff adorned beach Storey escaped to as a teen in Suffolk is a perfect example of this, with all of its misty falling synths and murkiness. Similarly, using field recordings of spoken word and street drumming sourced from the respective locales named in its title, “Manhattan to Moscow” has a low slung feeling even though it percolates at a handsome 155 bpm. 

Disruptive yet somehow settling- it is a sublime achievement to evoke such disparate sensations from a listener. 

Lucid Locations is an array of concise forward thinking dance music not limited by genre and driven by Alec Storey the producer and drummer- someone you can easily come to know through his engaging live shows. 

Bass, electro, techno, ambient, industrial- the word that best represents this album is spirited. And it is a spirit that adapts survives and soars on these 10 tracks of real substance.
