A LIFE DRIVE an original by Yvalain

For more than 15 years I've been working on a dozen of short classical pieces. I spent incalculable number of hours to write the notes of each instrument which plays in that orchestra. It all started with my acoustic guitars on a 4 track analog recorder. Once the music was written on musical notation I desperately needed a good software to make that music sounds as realistic as possible. I have it now... So I plan to publish my short classical pieces little by little, hoping you'll find some interest in these compositions. 

Some purists might say that the only real music was the one I played originally on my acoustic guitar. But in fact the real music was the one which was born in my mind and it really sounded much more like this one that we can hear now than my nice but rustic acoustic version (that I'll publish too one of these days). 

No samples and no loops were used in there.

This is the original acoustic demo recorded in the 90's on a 4 track analog cassette recorder. Contains a metronome, overdubs of acoustic guitars plus some appearance of an electric guitar. When I saved that recording on computer I slightly improved the sound and the stereo picture.

Those who heard the orchestral version, published earlier, will state how the music is close to the original version but in a definitely different shape.

This is the original acoustic demo. That recording was made in the 90s on a 4 track tape recorder with the desired simplicity to concentrate on the melody.
I published earlier the orchestral version and I know it is interesting, for a musician, to compare the different approaches of the same music

I enjoyed the early songs of Leonard Cohen (Marianne, Bird on a wire, The Partisan...) and then I lost views on his production. When I discovered Jeff Buckley with its delicate voice I enjoyed his song Hallelujah, until I found out that it was a Leonard Cohen composition. My version is between Leonard's deep voice and Jeff's flutter voice. I could not compete with these 2 music monuments. I just tried to express my admiration and love for this song

That demo was my first attempt to this song, the first vocal take by my good fellow Jean. As always, first takes have some warmth and freshness despite many approximations that the final versions lacks. I published the orchestral version here: http://www.fandalism.com/yvalain/bF0A with a video but after all this time I still like the first attempt that can be heard here and I felt like sharing it with you. I particularly like the vibrations made by the fuzz guitar. Please forgive the poor drums track which was there only to have some tempo. Today I can not improve that version as I lost all its tracks!

Recorded in 2009 in my music room.

This a an old song of mine composed in the early 80's but I've never recorded it until now.
The game was to use as much Beatles titles as possible! It's a rock n' roll but I also played with the song structure which does not follow the standard 3 chords blues/rock usual scheme.
