~ FAIRY TALE ~ Kilstrom/Denton feat Nancy Burridge

Here is a poem by Yvonne Heinz & recited by Hamilton Bailie (HamBa)&the wonderful music by Simon Reich. The Paris massacre caused such a stir around the world. Not only was there an outpouring of grief & shock but it felt like the terrorists had won & caused people everywhere to feel scared about going out to public places or celebrating our usual festivities in peace. Especially since Paris was already adorned with Christmas decorations & counting down to December 25th, Yvonne decided to do a poem that not only acknowledges the tragedy, but gives cause for hope & optimism, which is a wonderful human trait, the ability to face adversity head on & prevail, no matter the cost.
With these sentiments in mind, I produced sound effects & music to give emphasis to the words & create a vivid picture to back up their intent.

CHRISTMAS IN PEACE

Christmas spirit,
an evening full of joy and laughter,
excitement and anticipation in a stadium,
euphoric mood at a concert.

Shine a light
In a peaceful night
Shine so bright
On this lovely night

The shops adorned already festive.
It smells lovely from restaurants and bakeries.
Lights sparkling everywhere.
Laughter and hilarious talks are in the air

Shine a light
In a peaceful night
Shine so bright
On this lovely night

BANG!!!

Explosions shake the earth,
Shots cut the music,

Merciless gun fire raining down on people.
Screams, tears and panic,
Smell of death and violence,
Blood everywhere and disbelief.

Shine a light
In a horrible night
Shine so bright
On this dangerous night

Christmas, the festival of love and common celebration,
Festival with candles and full of hope for peace ...
Destroyed in a moment of violence?

NO!
 
Shine a light
In every night
Shine so bright
On a hopeful night

We will celebrate this feast in peace.
We will celebrate in mourning and grief.
We will celebrate love and happiness.
We will celebrate family and togetherness.

AUSSIE CHRISTMAS DAY

It's Christmas in Australia
And the weather's mighty hot
No snow or chill or wintry blues
Bikini beach girls thrill....
We'll pack the car
Our surfboards
Take our Esky and the lot
A beer or two
Play cricket too
We'll party till we drop
No Turkey Roast or pudding most
Will barbeque the prawns
Now Uncle Rick
Thinks he's so slick
He'll chat up all the girls
No mirror look
Forgotten..
That he's old
And now closed book
We'll sit here on the sand
And watch
A chuckle two or three
It's fun to watch
Cos his forgot
No longer young and free
Relatives, they'll all turn up
Don't see them through the year
There's many stories
To be heard...
I wonder why I'm here?
"Pass the grog"
It's searing hot
Midday and I am cooked
Tomorrow will regret it
When it's lobster red the look
"Take a hike, cousin Spike"
"Stop throwing sand around"
I wish the kids would all shut- up
My head is spinning round.
"Ahh!! It's ok I can't fall down
I'm laying on the sand
Just about to take a snooze
"Oh no" It's cricket plans
"Why is it every Christmas Day
The Aussies have to play?"
"I wish they'd all relax
And let me snooze
And have my way"
"No just my luck
It's brother Doug
He's bowling straight at me"
My eyes are crossed
The ball is tossed
"My head the target gee"
It's times like this
I wish that I had only had one drink
I'll take a swipe, hit ball I might
And hope not out to be
The fielders they all huddle close
Their eyes all glare at me
"It's just not cricket"
"Can't you see?"
"The grog's confusing me"
All the mob, yes they're all here
Another Christmas day
There's nothing like the Aussie treat

* I close my eyes and soon I find.. The book of Fairy tales, flipping the page...Eyes open wide. Picture perfect, the dreamy kind...Magnetically, instantly in the story I reside. In a flash, no warning given...The Fairy tale, what I thought was perfect...Becomes a nightmare with a Devil’s image. No escape, in picture glued...Stuck, can’t move, situation gloom. Sucked into a whirlwind zoom, a bit like Alice, but soon consumed. Swallowed up by unknown chewed. Too late! Really nothing...that I could do Not like Alice rabbit hole, high on whatever at the time. Seemed that way when story told. Find the chewed up puzzle mix, join the pieces troubles fix. The scrambled mind, of troubled times in the Music listener... finds. Fairy tale not Prince...or Princess ... Or Knights in armor with blades that fight. Jumbled mixed-up clues to find. Fairy tale...but not the usual kind. Crazy, no Rabbit...Cheshire Cat, or cards this time. Fairy tale? Nightmare? Who knows! More like tripping...Wacky!!! Out of one’s mind. Help help no escape..
