Tropical Express Tour

First show of the New Year!!! On Saturday, January 2nd, 2016, I was honored to be invited down to Portland, OR, to spin a set for a very special "138 BPM" edition of the recurring MISSION TRANCE show, which is put on monthly by my dear friend and fellow DJ/promoter, ZOXY. This is always a super fun show to play at with a great line-up of local resident DJ's and is frequented by the greatest group of loyal Portland Trance fans and friends, so there is always great energy at the club and lots of smiling faces in the crowd. Anyway, it's not very often that I get to play 138 BPM Trance, which is really at the core of my being and what originally got me addicted to the whole underground Euro electronic music scene in the first place back in the 90's, so I tried to pick a line-up of brand new tracks mixed with an assortment of precious vintage tracks that I have always wanted to spin live, including rare gems like "Aura Indigo" by Mirco de Govia,  "The Sun" by Scott Mac & Drax, and kicked it of with one of my ALLLLLL-TIME-FAVE classic breaks vocal tracks, "Faith" by Starecase, sped up to 138, her voice hits a tone that just drives me wild haha...and I think what I ended up with was a pretty special hour spent!!! This is the actual set that was recorded live at the club, just Voice ID's were added, that's it! Hope you enjoy!!! =)

Celebrating two decades in business, Technique Recordings have opened up the vaults and handed out the stems of some of their biggest tunes to some of the sickest producers around. We had warnings of what was to come with DC Breaks' remix of Tantrum Desire's 'Airhead' and Glitch City's take on Drumsound & Bassline Smith's 'Skumbag', and cuts from this album have been shelling down raves and festivals all summer.

Now, here's what we've been waiting for.

This album, spanning the full twenty years of Technique history, showcases the real strength and depth of the catalogue. Anthems like Crissy Criss & Youngman's 'Kick Snare', Drumsound & Bassline Smith's 'Crossfire' and Tantrum Desire's 'Reach' all get reconfigured to take heads off all over again. The bossmen have even resurrected their Future Tech moniker to give a 2019 upgrade to TECH 001.

And the array of remixers recruited take us all the way across the spectrum of contemporary drum 'n' bass. The likes of Bladerunner and Marky rub shoulders with AMC and The Prototypes...this album is as musically multi-faceted as it is star-studded. In summary, this is how to celebrate a birthday in style. Some of the biggest tracks from the back catalogue given the remix treatment by some of the biggest artists in the scene. James Is making a come up and is now a Resident with Fraktured in Portland, He also plays for Starcatchers and Christmas productions.
