Born in Istanbul, Zabel Manoukian holds degrees in piano performance from the Istanbul Conservatory of Music, McGill University's Faculty of Music, Montreal and Nordwestdeutsche Musikakademie, Detmold. Her studies continued in New York with Nadia Reisenberg (Juilliard).

Recipient of three Canada Council awards and winner of several competitions in Canada and abroad, Zabel Manoukian has taught Piano and Chamber Music at McGill University, Faculty of Music. She has also taught Master Classes in Canada and has served as a jury member for festivals and competitions.

Over the last forty years, Ms. Manoukian has performed as a concert pianist in Canada, Germany and Istanbul, as a soloist with orchestra and in Chamber Music with international musicians on various stages. Zabel Manoukian has also been heard in solo and Chamber Music concerts as well as live broadcasts on CBC radio.
