A long 20-minutes breath somewhere between techno-rock, contemporary music, electro-acoustic and ambient: rhythmic figures that gradually go crazy, then a calm leaning back into imaginary legends. This new EP by Thierry Zaboitzeff, who left Art Zoyd , of which he was a co-founder, at the end of the 90s, proposes a post-dystopian universe, free and open.

This is the undoubtful aim of a masterful, concise record, stretching a mysterious thread between a worried past, here recalled by Jean-Pierre Soarez's trumpet and its 'Zoydian' echoes, a destructive present where forests become deserts, and an uncertain future that we urgently need to be shaped. As an architect of a unique landscape of light and shadow – here is a cosmogony haunted by a underlying beat and unknown chants – where shouts and murmurs merge, melting into the heart of melodies as ancient as they are contemporary, Thierry Zaboitzeff comes to us as a human being aware of the challenges ahead. His radical, fiercely beautiful visions are ours.

„NEBENSONNEN" is the original soundtrack of a choreographic creation by Editta Braun published on CD in 2000 on the label Atonal (Berlin). It was recorded and arranged 20 years later under the title "NEBENSONNEN - remake“. 

„Nebensonnen" are halos that make a second, weaker sun appear in the sky next to the sun. Broken reflection, symbol of a close, formative, very special relationship - the phenomenon inspired the choreographer Editta Braun to a touching dance evening about mother-daughter relationships. Thierry Zaboitzeff composed a particularly sensitive album, transparent and clear, both gentle and powerful, in which he relies primarily on piano, sparsely accentuated by strings and soft electronics.

ABOUT THE SHOW 
Four people, setting out. They are still young and though every one of them is carrying his own history, his own dreams and experiences, hopes and deceptions. They are on their way, people on their trails through a barren world. Displaced and looking for shelter, prisoners of their own, without orientation, exhausted. Often their advancing seems to be without any sense: What is their destination? Is there any destination at all? What keeps them going are their memories and their desires. And then there still is – against all probability, despite conflicts and competition – the fractious power that emerges from empathy. 
The editta braun company presents a young team in a play that seems to have fallen out of time. A background of migration may be suspected, the atmosphere evoking eastern countries, the Balkans, Asia Minor, in a vague past or even in future, on a depopulated continent. Because everything is happening in front of impressing pictures which have been taken out of Nikolaus Geyrhalter’s documentary Homo Sapiens showing deserted industry landscapes, traces of a perished civilisation where nature has gained the upper hand for a long time already. 
Against this background empathy is not an expression of noble human kindness but vital: The four are depending on each other – like all of us are nowadays in a world that has grown small end extremely cross-linked. 
"Surrounded by a team of artists from Poland, Slovenia, Mozambique, Austria, France and Germany, I send four people on a journey. Although these people are obviously homeless, it is not about migration: We examine the group dynamic processes of a bunch of people who move through an apocalyptic world. And they manage that no one gets lost. 
The films of the Greek Theo Angelopoulos (The Travelling Players) have enchanted me since the early 1980s and remain anchored in me ever since. I perceive his pictorial language "choreographically" and, in its diverse association depth, is close to the arts of dance. 
Then I discover the acclaimed science-fiction documentary Homo Sapiens of the Austrian filmmaker Nikolaus Geyrhalter, who takes us into a world without people, yet landscapes with human remains. Industrial ruins, abandoned human habitats, recaptured by nature, overgrown. Powerful images." (Editta Braun)

On this occasion, Thierry Zaboitzeff and Editta Braun immerse themselves in the world and vocabulary of urban dance: Hip hop sounds superimpose and transform the codes of contemporary dance. A new adventure for both artists.

ABOUT Planet LUVOS 
"The Salzburg choreographer Editta Braun leads us through a blue underwater world back to the origins of life ... The viewer sinks into a blue, bubbling waterworld. The only sign that humans exist is the distant sound of a steamship whistle, somewhere far away. And a woman who suddenly finds herself in a kingdom full of strange, but peaceful beings. Seven dancers constitute this symbiotic, sensitive collective. Their legs wave in the air like anemone arms, each movement reacting as fast as lightning to the other. Their bodies lose their humanness and become entities. Naked torsi move like alien beings across the stage. These are fascinating images, a thoroughly successful illusion, underscored by Peter Thalhamer’s perfect light design and Thierry Zaboitzeff’s spare underwater sound. 
The arms enfold the human being in a nearly tender way, and it willingly surrenders to the gentle embrace. What appears...  more

Planet Luvos Act 3 (excerpt)

"Le Lac des Signes" is a masterpiece by Thierry Zaboitzeff written for the group Art Zoyd on the album "Marathonnerre" (1992). This piece was then developed for his solo concerts and in various adaptations such as the dance show "Close Up 2.0" in 2017 by editta braun company (A). And today here is "le lac des signes" in its most stripped version to date, as it had been initially imagined around the sometimes violent, tender, percussive, minimal piano ... which the musician uses very often to scaffold his crazy structures. 

The same goes for Komba which was a piece for electric bass and sound effects assisted by pre-recorded rhythmic sequences performed live during his "Dr. Zab" concerts (1993) then in the show "Heartbeat" with the Austrian dancer and choreographer. : "Editta Braun" (1997). komba sees the light of day again in this prepared piano version, refined and reinvented.
