How Crato shaped our new vinyl album with The Lake

The Lake is a collective of musicians who’ve been creating together across genres for nearly two decades. Formed during the first lockdown with a lakeside retreat in the Ardennes, their debut vinyl EP on WeZienWel Records captured a sense of freedom and reflection.

‘Corkhills Farmhouse’ is their second album — recorded in midsummer 2024 during a three-week music retreat in Portugal. The natural surroundings among cork oak trees and spirit of Waking Life, shaped a spontaneous creative process with members of the WeZienWel community. A space where the Crato environment itself guided the sound with experimental electronics.
