Pileated Woodpecker

This tune was written while playing a tin whistle in the woods, beside a brook where an insect known as a water strider was striding on the water.

Water Strider

I wasn't certain what to title this track. Then as I was recording it, a stink bug crawled onto my computer (who is the being of which I said "Om Namah Shivaya" to at the end of the recording). So I thought I'd title it for this insect. While they do stink, "stink bug" doesn't seem to be the nicest name for this beetle. So I titled it "Geometric Master of Walking Meditation", since to me they look like some sort of abstract geometric African art, and they walk in a slow manner that appears reminiscent of walking meditation. I wasn't certain if I would definitely title it this, but then it flew up and landed on a photo of Thich Nhat Hanh doing a walking meditation in a lotus flower garden, which made me feel certain that I should indeed stick with this title.

A tune written while sitting on a tree that had fallen across a river, as a wasp flew around beside me. The wasp didn't really influence the calm mood of the tune. But it made me feel a bit uneasy, which caused me to do some mindful breathing, and the tune then arose after that.
There was also some Cardinal flowers growing on a sandbar below me, which is what the photo is of.

Downy Woodpecker

Original compositions played upon various acoustic instruments. 

At the moment, the majority of music I record is original folk tunes. Most of these tunes arise whilst out in natural ecosystems or shortly after visiting a natural ecosystem. The titles often reflect an aspect of the ecosystem I had noticed while the tune came about. Lately this is usually a species of bird.

Tin whistles and flutes appear the most often in my recordings; though mandolin, tenor guitar, lyre harp, jaw harp, dulcitar, and a handful of other instruments show up fairly often as well.
