For years I let you control me; I let myself settle for less, for someone I knew wasn’t right for me, someone I knew I didn’t love. Nobody is perfect, no matter how much you may think so. We all make mistakes. I was lonely and insecure, so I stuck with you for as long as I could bear. I didn’t want to be with you, so I pushed you further snd further away, because I was too afraid to let go on my own terms. I should have left long before I got myself too deep… But we all learn our lesson eventually, if we are open to accepting the truth. You drained a part of me, but I won’t let that happen anymore. Take accountability and be humble. Sometimes we are unable to see or understand the perspective of others… or maybe we just choose not to see it… Either way, we should not lose ourselves trying to fix someone who doesn’t want to change for the better.

This was probably one of my first songs that I fell in love with. Caught between wanting to live to my fullest potential and giving in to my feelings of escaping this life… A lot of my thoughts do not seem to belong to me, but at the same time I am aware that I am in control of who I am and what I want… or some idea of what I may want. I must not let myself be fooled by “what they may think”… I am me, and this is just how I have been feeling for a long time.
