Rush Hour Mix June 2025 (OLD SCHOOL)

Basement Mix Tape

Heavily layered Dj mix of uptempo experimental techno and other electronic music. I'm very inspired by Aphex Twin's DJ sets (who isn't), and wanted to make something that explored faster and non 4-4 techno that is more on the experimental side, possibly venturing into drum & bass-type territory. I include ambient and beatless tracks which when layered with beat tracks take on new dimensions. I don't rely on or use software to DJ... but this set is an exception. The reason is because I wanted to be able to syncronize 4 tracks playing at once simultaenously, and focus on multilayer construction of sound rather than be bogged down trying to manually beat match all of it. So in this mix I've used NI Traktor.

20250120 Experimental Electronic Mix

I find diesel freight locomotives and industrial machinery/factories (especially decommisioned or in decay) inspirational when I play techno. I find that complementing the music with visuals of such subjects enhances the sensory immersion experience considerably. For such themes, I focus on very precise and smooth transitions, letting the tracks breathe to produce a hypnosis. The track selections are heavily minimal and very industrial sounding in nature. Sets like this are quite different from other techno mixes I make which have more hands-on manipulation, fast cutting / transitions, and variegated track selections. 

TECHNO Mix Nov 2024

When I typically play techno the selections are variegated and very dance-floor focused, and my style is very hands-on with fast cutting / transitions. This mix is an exception in that I wanted to play primarly minimal and mental techno selections with precise and smooth transitions, letting the tracks breathe. The intention was to create a dark, industrial-themed sonic journey, slowly building tension and inducing a sort of hypnosis. It was meant more for listening rather than dancing.
