So here we have it, the final release from us at Yamatai Records for 2022, and what a year it has been!

After almost a year of planning, with countless hours of scouting fresh talent to represent Yamatai, back and forth with art designers to get the right design and multiple final track touch-ups we can finally introduce the 20 track monster the 'Genesis VA'.

This VA includes lots of amazing upcoming talent in the Drum & Bass scene all of who have their own unique sound and style. Featuring artists who have released on Delta 9, Engage Audio, Program, Forbidden Frequencies, 4 Corners, Sinful Maze and Incurzion Audio we have a very very talented bunch of artists on this VA.

To make the thank you even better for the support this year the 'Genesis' VA is a free download with two release dates, starting on December the 16th and then the final release on January 6th.

I would personally like to thank all the artists involved in this huge project and for being so cooperative, also a shout out to Trigo Designs for whipping up such a beautiful album cover but also a massive thank you to R3IDY [R3 Masters] for being patient, and getting these tracks sounding incredible.

I am super excited to finally share this project with you, and I can't wait to see what you think :)

DWARKA, this release, will take you on a captivating journey inspired by lost underwater ruins—an Atlantis of sorts. DWARKA captures the essence of mystery, leaving listeners to formulate their own theories and emotions as they explore this musical masterpiece.

The artist behind DWARKA, when asked about its central theme, shared that they aimed to create a sense of sustained mystery without overwhelming the listener. They crafted a space that feels familiar, with building structures and architecture, yet strange and delicate due to decay and ruin—theories of destruction.

Sleepnet played a significant role in inspiring this creation, as did Angelblade, influencing the artist’s approach to production and emotional exploration.

One intriguing story from the making of DWARKA is the accidental omission of sub-bass in the first section of the drop. A plugin malfunction prevented the original project file from reopening, resulting in a unique contrast between the subtle first section and the bass-heavy second part. This happy accident highlighted the beauty of imperfection in art.

Last year April, the crew at SATURATE! hosted a remix competition with Quebec-based Riddim mastermind, FLIX.

“MAG 1001” saw FLIX take a different approach to production, showcasing FLIX’s versatility and ability to traverse the bassweight side of Dubstep.

Our winner of the FLIX “MAG 1001” clash is no stranger to SATURATE!, and has a bit of community lore based around him - it's Kunas, who continues to prove his own versatility while refining the signature KUNAS SOUND which is so distinctive in each of his works.

Kunas converts a hedonistic, gritty banger into a spiritual dive exploring melancholy and captivating the signature minimalism and swagger distinct of Kunas' style.

Smoky, emotive, yet sly, smooth as velvet and rugged as the ends. This is why every January should be Kunas SZN - the ball drops and he takes center stage.
