“Call on Jah” is a mantra for self-betterment that reminds listeners to reconnect with their limitless power, and the song’s angelic vocals and groove carry the listener to a calm and uplifting place. Producers Alann Ulises and DJ Sammy V created the song’s solid R&B/reggae foundation. The cover artwork, “The Sacred Child,” was created by artist Abba Yahudah Selassie. “Call on Jah” is Zahira’s first release since becoming a mother.

The prolific producer helped launch the careers of Luciano, Sizzla, Pinchers, and many more. Working with the island’s top session musicians his tireless work ethic yielded an abundance of classic recordings, many of which have never been released. After combing through an extensive archive of DAT tapes and two-inch reels to preserve and present the best of my father’s musical legacy to the world.  Roots music meets pop appeal in “Mystic One,” the latest single from Canadian-born Zahira. Joining forces with backing band Rising Buffalo Tribe, this new offering from the soulful songstress drives listeners to recognize their personal truth with an open heart. With a heavy lean toward Rastafari, “Mystic One” displays a songwriter striving to express her spiritual essence and beliefs, while maintaining a high degree of listenability.

Propelling this accessible sound is the top-shelf production found on “Mystic One.” Recorded at Grammy-nominated B-Side Studios in Portland, OR under the guidance of producer Avi Brown (Stephen Marley, Bill Kreutzmann, Soulstice) and later mixed and mastered in Spain  by Henry Sarmiento (Lady Gaga, 50 Cent, Tower of Power), Zahira’s new single carries her audience into a well-balanced soundscape, with thick vocal harmonies and synth pads washing over the listener, leaving them cleansed and open to the message.

Relaying personal convictions to an audience puts anyone in a place of vulnerability.
