I wrote Why Love after the killing of George Floyd. The response to his death was overwhelming. My family had been involved with the Black Lives Matter movement since 2016.  Until this point, the response I received when I would talk about BLM in some of my social circles was hesitant and negative. It was associated with politics and violence, but for me, the movement is about protection from one of the many elements that has been killing our Black Americans for centuries.  I began to reflect on the long term importance and need for humans to learn how to love each other unconditionally. Stevie Wonder spoke about this back in the 70's with his song “Love’s in Need of Love Today”.  I find it sad that we still have not learned this skill.  I wrote this song to give hope and reignite the conversations on HOW to truly accept and love each other. How important empathy and unconditional love are for the progress of humanity
