Zak1, born Zachary Aaron Mathews, is a hip hop artist born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has worked with the finest and biggest names that have come from that region and lots more. His credits in the studio include work with Mac Dre, Spice1, Berner (of Taylor Gang), Chinx Drugz, San Quinn, Mistah F.A.B.,  Joe Black and many more.

Zak1 first featured as a member of the Shedwellaz and Shadow People, as well as USF (Unstoppable Force) as a group member in the late 90s, including 2 vinyl releases and various tape and CD releases.
In the year 2000 the underground classic "Hurtful Circle," featuring Zak1 woke up the underground scene in his area. The next year he dropped the first hard copy "Head Honchoz" album, in which he appeared as one of four members of the Head Honchoz. He also released another underground classic, "Itz Nothin," in 2002.
By 2004 Zak had branched out and went all out to do a solo project, "Shortstoppn," which turned out to be a Bay Area classic. It featured the late great Mac Dre, Lil Ric (formerly of No Limit fame), Scoot Dogg (of the Hoodstarz), and more, and production by T.C. and the Enhancer, (producers for Master P's "West Coast Bad Boyz" project and many many more).
He went on to perform at venues from the Bay Area to Mexico, Las Vegas, Detroit, Lake Tahoe, and various other places, opening and performing as the opening act for industry name artists.
 He also dropped "Spittaz," which features lots of Bay Area's best, then started his "Real. Life. Soprano." mixtape series, of which he is currently working on Volume 5. 

Also done independently with Zaks own label, "Head Honchoz Ent," were "Left 4 Dead," and "B-Boyz 2 D-Boyz," both available on iTunes. Zak also is featured on too many projects to name, but one is "Black Tearz Presents Volume 1, where he featured on the project alongside names like Max B, French Montana, Red Cafe and more, He also was able to build a strong relationship and build a partnership with Producer Joe Black. They went on to make songs including the hit "Living the Good Life," featuring Chinx Drugz, TL Cross and Hollywood Haiti. They are currently playing this song and more of Zak's music on radio stations as far out as Belgium, the U.K. and the Philippines, and was recently asked by United Hip Hop Worldwide to be the lone representative for the U.S. on its website and on an up and coming record where he will be one of 6 artists chosen to represent their country by rapping and performing in a video in their own respective languages. 

In 2012 Zak flew to Detroit, Michigan, to perform live and compete as a nominee for the 2012 Spoken Word Billboard Hip Hop Artist of the Year award, which he proudly won. He is also nominated for the Spoken Word Billboard Awards Top 100 Hot Artist of the Year award this year (2013). 
Plenty of videos and a strong independent hustle, not to mention precise wordplay and a genuine love for the music, this artist has dedicated himself to making it to the top.
