A sheltered youth, born in the Northwest and raised in the Southeast, zAk began with his discovery of music in the backseat of the car, memorizing the words to his favorite radio hits. Oldies but Goodies, early 90s pop and rock hits banged on zAk's ear drums in the early years of his life. His first exposure to rap and hip-hop was "California Love" by 2Pac. Moving from Washington State to Georgia, zAk began to listen to great southern rap artists like T.I. and OutKast, to local favorites like Camoflauge. That list soon grew to other artists; DMX, Jay-Z, Eminem, Dr. Dre and Cash Money Records. Nas, Del the Funky Homosapien and the Roots began to make their way into the rotation as well. After more than a decade, living in the "Dirty South" and an expanding music pallet, zAk relocated, back home, to the Pacific Northwest. It was there he decided that making music would be more than a hobby, it would be a professional pursuit. Inspired by the music and the world around the artist, zAk points his microphone at open-mindedness, truth, and music itself (just to get a little feedback). So whether writing bass lines, hooks, chord progressions, raps, ambient to dub step, Rock 'n Roll to Orchestral, zAk lives on Earth, in the music and in the moment.
