أَلا كُلُّ ما هُوَ آتٍ قَريبُ وَ لِلأَرْضِ مِنْ كُلِّ حَيٍ نَصيبُ وَ للناسِ حُبٌّ لِطولِ البَقاءِ فيها وَ لِلمَوْتِ فيهُمْ دَبيبُ وَ لِلدَّهْرِ شَدٌّ عَلى أَهْلِهِ فَبَيْنٌ مُشِتٌ وَ نَبْلٌ مُصيبُ وَ كَمْ مِنْ أُناسٍ رَأَيْناهُمُ تَفانَوْا فَلَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْهُمْ غَريبُ وَ صاروا إِلى حُفْرَةٍ تَحْتَوي وَ يُسْلِمُ فيها الحَبيبَ الحَبيبُ أَرى المَرْءَ تُعْجِبُهِ نَفْسُهُ فَأَعْجَبُ وَ الأَمْرُ عِنْدي عَجيبُ وَ ما هُوَ إِلا عَلى نَقْصِهِ فَيَوْماً يَشِبُّ وَ يَوْماً يَشيبُ أَلا يَعْجَبُ المَرْءُ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ إِذا ما نَعاها إِلَيْهِ المَشيبُ إِذا عِبْتَ أَمْراً فَلا تَأْتِهِ وَ ذو اللُّبِّ يُجْنِبُ ما يَسْتَعيبُ وَ دَعِ ما يُربيُكَ لا تَأْتِهِ وَ جُزْهُ إِلى كُلِّ ما لا يُريبُ أَغَرَّكَ مِنْها نَهارٌ يُضيءُ وَ لَيْلٌ يَجُنُّ وَ شَمْسٌ تَغيبُ

رباه عفوك إني .. للنور مدت يداي
My Lord, I seek Your forgiveness. 
My hands have spread for Your light.

نزعت أسرار قلبي .. وجئت ألقي أساي 
I have pulled out the secrets of my heart
and I have come to show my grief.

وأشتكي طي صدري .. درباً سحيق العطايا 
I complain to you of my heart being twisted 
By a way (i.e. my life) that's full of cruelties.

به بدأت ولكن .. لم أدر ما منتهاي
I started with it but .. I don't know how it shall end.

لم أدر يأسي فيه .. ولا عرفت هداي 
I don't know of my hopelessness in this day, 
nor do I know whether I am guided.

ولا عرفت ظلامي .. ولا عرفت ضحاي
I don't even know my night or my day,

ولا لغيرك دوى يا رب يوما نداي
Nor do I invoked any one along with Oh my Lord.

إليك أنت صباحي مصفد في مساي 
Oh Lord! My morning is shackled up in my evening

فاسكب ضياءك إني .. ظمآن ضل صداي 
Place your light in mh heart, as I am thirsty [of guidance]

لم أدر من أي نبع .. أسقي جنين الركايا 
I don't know from which waterspout [i.e. how] .. can I water my strength? to a newly-found well [i.e. to find guidance]

والشط لا ماء فيه .. يطفي اللظى في حشايا 
And the beach has not enough water (i.e. no strength at the edge of life)
to extinguish the blaze in my heart. (i.e. to comfort my worry)

رحماك يا ربي اني .. وزورقي والخطايا 
I ask of your mercy, my Lord. 
I and my small boat, alongside with my sins

في لجة ليس فيها .. من الضياء بقايا 
are in tidal waves to which no light can reach.

جفت وغابت ولكن .. مازلت أسجي رجاي
are been dried up and disappeared, but .. I still quietly hope of your mercy.

يا رجائي .. يا رجائي

اتيت وقد توزعت الهدايا 
I came and the gifts were all ready distributed

وحملت الرحال على المطايا 
And the loads were already loaded on the mounts

عبيدك يا اله الناس غاو 
Your humble servant oh God of Mankind is mislead

وليس سواك يمنحني هداي
And there is non other than you who will guide me

عبيدك من شتات في شتات 
Your humble servant is in a state of dispersals  

أتاك وأنت أخبر بالنوايا
He has come to you and you are more aware of the intentions 

جهول ظالم وعليه برد
Ignorant and oppressive with a cloak of

من التسويف أورده البلايا
Procrastination which has landed him in turmoil/tribulations

وما عتبات بابك غير جود 
Your doorsteps are not miserly

فها هو واقف يرجوا العطايا 
So here he is standing hoping for gifts

وها هو خد شقوته ذليل
Here he is humiliated and misfortunate

تعفر ساجدا بين الحنايا
Rubbing his face ,prostrating  in front of ……

أنا والذنب والتسويل جئنا
Me, my sins and enticement have all come

وبين يديك اطرقنا خزايا
And in front of you we have fallen down humiliated

جواي هشيم افراح وتحيا
Inside of me are fragments of happiness and upon it lives

على أنقاضها كتل الرزايا
The clusters of calamities

إلهي لا تكل نفسي لنفسي
Oh my lord do not deposit my soul to myself

إذن والله تخذلني السجايا
Then by Allah the darkness of the night will disgrace me

وصغ لي عبرة بهوان غيري 
Formulate for me a lesson for the humiliation of others

لأبصر كل ما حولي مرايا
So that I see all around me as a mirror

إلهي جيش أحزاني غزاني 
Oh my lord the army of my grief’s has battled against me

ومن همي تباغتني سرايا 
And the battalion of  my worries have ambushed me

وجئتك يا حبيب الصدق تعدو 
I have come to you oh true friend

خطاي لتستجير من الخطايا
With my sins running, so that you may protect from sin.
