It's been a long time coming, and for our final release of the year we have @Maessounds and @masis0114 collaborating on a single record.

A. Maes & Masis - What Do We Dub
Pairing up for a collaborative A-side track, we have a smooth, bassline-forward minimal piece, indicative of the two artist's respective styles. This one with echoing voices swirling around a deep stomping melody way down in the bassline and a flute reprise towards the end, rounding off of the track beautifully.

B. Maes - Treadin'
Another heavy track, hyped up by the man himself on his Soundcloud using a clip with only question marks for a name, Maes finally returns to Soil and Sound for another outstanding contribution after his debut two years ago. Coming through with a heavy-hitting 120bpm bassline, earth-shattering snares and vocals that reverberate all the way into the very deepest depths of your conscience. Can you tell we're very glad to have him back?

All records will be hand-cut by the dub-cutting master Henry Bainbridge at @Dubstudio onto 10" transparent plates. 
(yes they'll be sleeved in those pretty hand-stamped sleeves we put on our Instagram a couple days ago)

Preorders will open on our Bandcamp on 17/12/21 @ 3PM GMT 
50 copies will be available to preorder.

Last Tune is the first single from the forthcoming Dreadsquad album with Blackout JA - ‘World Destruction’. The track started life in San Francisco as a collaboration with Kush Arora then later Bristolian brass section Smerins Anti-Social Club added the next layer and finally Blackout came with the finishing move. Last Tune was ready to finish the dance.

This is Heavy UK Steppers style - designed for take the remaining crowd in the dance all the way through to when the lights go up. This is raw energy through and through and as Blackout shouts to the people to get even more energy it perfectly illustrates the relationship between the party and the selector.

Number five of eight in the Trigram series. Raw, unadulterated tribal bass music with a deep roots foundation. This is the sound of Trigram.

JahYu: the Korean word for ‘freedom’, this is an artist whose music is rooted in the notion of freedom, freedom of sound, freedom of expression, freedom from mind and freedom of the soul. JahYu uses his creative freedom to connect with his ancestors and create music that somehow transports the listener through time and space. Oriental flute and string melodies slide effortlessly amongst powerful roots-based dubstep, creating a sound that is unique and full of flavour. This enigmatic Korean-German producer blends both sides of his heritage, the digital steppers that emerged from Europe in the 1990’s alongside the traditional oriental music of his mother’s homeland, Korea, augmented by a deeper exploration of contemporary bass music. It is said that JahYu’s family descend from the same lineage of Go Jumong, the founder of the great Goguryeo Kingdom of the Far East, a people renown for their ancestral worship and unique musical expression. Goguryeo music was even adopted as official court music for the powerful Sui and Tang dynasties of China, many times throughout history these Chinese dynasties were at war with Goguryeo, however, the music of the enemy, Goguryeo, was still able to flourish in China and has been consistently performed across Asia for hundreds of years. Perhaps this explains the majestic qualities of JahYu’s music. JahYu’s productions provide us with the opportunity to discover our ancestral roots through music. Piotr Krakowski  - composer, music producer and trumpet player known from several projects: Pankracy Sessions, SmokeDaCrackoff or King & Krakowski. His favourite style is Roots and Rubadub with addition of his dubbed trumpet. 

This time he invited Kasia Malenda, with whom he worked with in SmokeDaCrackoff, to collaborate for a heavy dub riddim with powerful bassline and turbulent brass section. Conscious lyrics and intriguing melodies tell the real story of modern world and society oppressed by tyrannical governments. 

The real cornerstone and essentially the back bone of reggae is the fight for freedom against oppression and financial terror. As Bob Marley used to sing “Get up, Stand up” now Kasia Malenda sings “Scream for Your Rights” for all of those who are tired of exploitation.

With releases on Black Box, Box Clever, System - and of course firmly planted in the mighty Innamind camp of artists - ZamZam is proud to forward our first 7” from the enigmatic LAS (Love and Sound) AKA Lassi Vainionpää of Helsinki.

Well-known to those that have journeyed alongside LAS during his live shows the last couple years, “Traveling" is a deep journey into the post-dubstep ether - a classic Upsetters sample rotates and swims in strange orbits around a rubbery sub and LAS’ signature conga-led percussion.  Half way through the tune a 4/4 pulse takes over and the dubbing goes recursive and non-Euclidian, even while it drives that much harder. 

"Omega Dub" takes a turn for the darker - the darkness of space.  A hollowed out lead that sounds like throat signing cyborgs navigates the craft, propelled by insistent skanks.  Spectral key flourishes bloom from the beyond, and hats and snares are pushed into an ever deeper reverb void.

Released mid-February, 2016. Limited to 800 copies for the world. No digital, no repress. Design & screen print by Polygon Press.
