Rising artist Zanillya today shares her debut EP Choose Life, a heartfelt, varied yet cohesive collection of tracks characterised by her signature blend of R&B, Dancehall, Afrobeats and Hip-Hop.

As the arts begin to drive mental illness out of the shadows, Zanillya is determined to be at the vanguard of this change. Choose Life is a record about self-belief and healing, an embrace of positivity which simultaneously acknowledges openness and vulnerability as a show of courage rather than weakness.

Zanillya explains: “The EP is snapshot of me facing my demons and being open about it. The title of the EP is an affirmation that no matter how dark it gets I should never forget to ‘Choose Life’.”

Zanillya has co-produced the EP alongside long-time collaborator Humphrey Dennis, and the record delivers successive high points, from the addictive dancehall groove of ‘Sacrifices’, to the lyrical honesty of ‘Nothing To Lose’, which highlights the ongoing struggle of balancing career and family. Ultimately though, Choose Life’s message is one of affirmation, a call to all those who struggle to keep going.

Zanillya has already been championed by tastemakers including Wonderland, I-D, Clash, Atwood and The Quietus, as well as receiving radio support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra and BBC 6 Music. Choose Life’s universal message of hope and musical versatility looks set to catapult her into mainstream acclaim.

With a passion to use her voice and music not only to bring joy, but also touch upon thought provoking issues, Zanillya is ready to release her next offering with the hard-hitting anthem “We Are Free”.
 
The empowering, powerful and energetic track demands attention with the encouraging message that women’s rights are important and every woman should be heard and have the freedom to live their life in their own way. It’s a hip-hop/ pop banger that states the freedom every woman should have.
 
When speaking about the track, Zanillya said: “I’m angry and sad to see what is going on in the US and believe it's our responsibility as artists to help aid change in whatever way we can. The track “We Are Free” was inspired by the gender pay gap women all over still face today, and it couldn't be more relevant to the injustice women in the US are facing right now.
 
“In the track I claim the freedom, equality and choice that every woman should have and give the finger to outdated standards. I hope it will help women feel empowered to fight the daily injustice they face.”

Amsterdam based artist, rapper, producer Zanillya shares her contagious and vibrant new cut ‘Dushi Bida’. It's her first track in Papiamento, the Portuguese-based creole language spoken in the Dutch Caribbean, but that’s heavily influenced by Spanish. On the new track she pays homage to the Island Aruba. Co- produced with long time collaborator Humphrey Dennis, ‘Dushi Bida’ was born from a deep down desire to represent the island Aruba, her father’s birthplace.

The energetic track serves as a reminder that Zanillya isn’t to be labeled or put in a box. Speaking more on her release, Zanillya expresses: “I like to explore and try out new rhythms. I was raised on a lot of different genres and never want my music to be just one thing, one sound or even in one language. It feels good to represent where I come from as I believe Aruba and especially our language is so special, being it’s a mix of Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch and English. I hope the world will fall in love with it and enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it”.

After the release of her previous contagious and energetic cut ‘Dushi Bida”, today, Amsterdam based artist, rapper, producer Zanillya shares her new collab with brilliant artists Leo Justi and longtime collaborator Humphrey Dennis. The power duo collaborated on the infectious, street-style production by Rio’s favela mainstay Leo Justi, who has previously collaborated with the likes of MIA, Phantogram, Danny Brown, and more to bring you this dancefloor banger.

The sensational sounds of the Dutch Caribbean and Brazil join forces on 'We On The Loose'. The track is a dynamic collision of cultures, resulting in a unique blend of sounds that represents Zanillya’s Caribbean roots, Humphrey Dennis’s HipHop influences and Leo Justi’s self-labeled ‘Heavy Baile’ movement. 

'We On the Loose' carries an inspiring message of taking control and letting loose. Merging the best of Soca, Brazilian funk and hip hop, making it absolutely impossible to sit still. 

This is the second time Zanillya and Humphrey Dennis have worked with Leo Justi. They collaborated on ’Swipe It Off’, the track that became the UEFA’s soundtrack to promoting women’s football. The track sis out now via the groundbreaking Waxploitation Records (Gnarls Barkley, Broken Bells, and Danger Mouse).
