Only a true craftsman can master such a challenge - and the two hour section we highlight here from the middle of the journey shows Danny at the height of his powers. 

A driving, percussive ride, Danny rides the rhythm, blending styles & moods with apparent ease. Hypnotic meets tribal then ventures into acid, funky techno, deep vibes and more - with perfectly timed vocal interventions, an unexpected piano drop that will make you swoon, and so much more.

Not many artists can say that they have done official mix compilations for the likes of Yoshitoshi, Bedrock and Balance... Luke Fair please stand up. Luke Fair is a name that's been on the scene for over 10 years now plying his trade all over the world, and he first came to our attention with the massive 2002 Kritical/Let U Know 12" on Black Recordings (Let U Know was famously featured on the Satoshi Tomiie Nubreed compilation). Luke went on to establish himself as one of the world's premier selectors to call upon for warming up dancefloors, and he was even asked to be the official warm-up DJ for Sasha on his North American Involver tour. Since then Luke has become an headliner in his own right, playing a deep, almost Balaeric-sounding variant of house that will get the most rigid of bodies grooving. Back in 2007 Luke Fair delivered one of the more housier outings with his Balance 011 effort, and he continues that exploration of house in the second of our Balance Selections series.

Chris Fortier releases his highly anticipated debut solo album “As Long as the Moment Exists” via Australia’s finest independent label EQ Recordings. After a long list of accomplishments that has seen him do nearly everything possible in dance music, Chris conquors the final personal goal of an artist album of his own material. This comes straight from the heart and sees the man spread his wings to become a true artist beyond his fame as a DJ.
The Album took all of 2006 to complete, and all tracks have been tweaked and sublimely edited to ensure the best possible sonic journey into deep sounds. ”As Long as the Moment Exists” explores underground sounds and electronic influences, with an experimental twist. At a glance the excursion starts with ambient sound-scapes before shifting to mid-tempo territory and quirky electronic cuts with searing minimalistic dips through dubby tech house and twisted melodic trips, before winding things back with chilled out vibes to round off an accomplished foray into electronica.
As a producer, Chris Fortier has released over 40 original productions, and remixed countless more. Most notably in 1998, scoring an international dance hit with his original reworking of Delerium’s “Silence.” His remix discography reads like a who’s who of dance music at any one time, while his Fade label continues to be regarded as one of the most respected and consistent dance labels in the USA. 1.	Hi, Chris!  Thanks for checking in with We Are Machine!  Where and when was this mix recorded?

I recorded this set early in January 2018 at a secret warehouse location.

2.	What specifically made this gig stand out for you?  What made it special?

Any time you can play into the late night and early morning with an embracing crowd, you get those special moments.

3.	What was your approach heading into the gig?  How did you prepare?

My preparation for each gig is the same week in and week out.  I put in a lot of time going through promos and searching for tracks that are interesting and fit into any parts of my extended sets.  I think that’s what takes so much time now – narrowing down your music to have cohesive and strong choices.  Once I’m at the gig and about to start, I find that first track to transition from the DJ before (if there is one) and go with it and let the music and crowd lead me somewhere.

4.	What are some of your key tracks in this mix?

This is an early part of my set with the first 2 hours showcasing deep vibes and building on top with each record.  There are a few of my own productions in this mix including my remix (as Cool Gold with Stephen Wilson) of Phoenix “Rise Up” out now on the Tactal Hots label.  Also included, is an original track (“Lost Letters”), which is in collaboration with Andromo and soon out on Culprit. And, there are other remixes of mine in there too – Slumber “Temple” (Chris Fortier Fully Executed Remix) forthcoming on Motek, and one for Prophetts on my own Fade Records.

5.	Looking ahead, what are some key dates coming up on your schedule and what projects are you lining up for 2018?

I’m looking forward to spending 2018 playing only the shows I really want to play and to cut down on gigs that are less memorable.   I would rather play less, but more meaningful gigs, than just filling my calendar up.

Hey everyone, this week I have something very special for you.  It’s a Deep Dish set from Pacha Ibiza last year, where Dubfire and I played for the 20th anniversary of Deep Dish at Pacha. Lockdown Live #2 - My Birthday Livestream

Il Modo is proud to present our 9th Exclusive Series Mix, by the legend of the scene, the one and only Dave Seaman.

There aren’t many artists who’ve soundtracked the birth of dance music and are still  leading its development more than two decades later. Dave Seaman is one of a select few.  

Whether it’s one of his spine-tingling Global Underground or Renaissance CDs that’s still burning a hole in your stereo years after its purchase, or the perfect pop of Kylie’s ‘Confide In Me’ that he wrote, produced and remixed, there’s very few with  their heart in electronic music who haven’t been touched by his oeuvre in one form  or another.  

Having devoted almost every weekend over the last 30 years to moving dancefloors from Ibiza to Iceland, Seaman has played the world’s most recognised festivals and clubs in more than 80 countries throughout his career, while still lending his production nous to the music industry’s A List. Along with crafting beats for Ms Minogue and Pet Shop Boys, everyone from David Bowie to New Order and U2 to Michael Jackson have received a Seaman re-rub.

Wind the clock back to when Seaman was eight years old and it’s difficult to imagine anyone wanting to devote their life to music quite as much as the Leeds-born lad. By the early ‘80s, the music obsessive was spinning records at his high school disco and earning his pocket money playing friends’ birthday parties. He knew how to talk-the-talk, too. In 1987 the still-amateur DJ and DMC member won a trip to New York to attend the New Music Seminar – the industry’s most important event at that time. The trip ultimately led him to land the editor’s role at Mixmag, a position he’d hold for the next three years.

Seaman played his first bona-fide professional DJ gig at the legendary Shelley’s in  Stoke in 1990, stroking vinyl alongside a couple of emerging talents by the name of  Sasha and Laurent Garnier. Acid house was blooming and Seaman’s boundless  enthusiasm and creative spirit was petrol in it’s tank.  
Teaming up with producer and friend Steve Anderson, the duo recorded as Brothers  In Rhythm, birthing the seminal rave anthem ‘Such A Good Feeling’ which became a UK Top 20 hit, while also issuing the landmark ‘Mixmag Live Volume’ 1 with Carl Cox in 1991 – a release that stands as one of the first ever commercially available mix compilations.  

Seaman’s unrelenting desire to propel music at all levels saw him kickstart the  Stress Records imprint through DMC, showcasing tunes by some of the finest talent  in dance music for more than a decade. Artists including Sasha, Danny Tenaglia,  John Digweed and Groove Armada’s Andy Cato all released smoking club cuts on  the label, with many crediting it as acting as a global launching pad for their careers.  

He followed Stress with a decade at the helm of Audio Therapy where similar levels  of success ensued proving his ability to spot & nurture talent time and time again.  

Without a doubt, his relationship with Renaissance is one of the most renowned in  dance music, with Seaman having contributed 10 mixes to the revered series. Global Underground view the Brit in a similarly lofty light, having secured his services to mix their Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Cape Town & Lithuanian volumes.

Today, Seaman’s passion to exhibit boundary-breaking talent is as strong as ever.  Via the independent record label Selador Recordings which he co owns with long  time friend, Steve Parry, his inspired A&R has helped nurture some of the finest  groove-merchants in dance music. The label’s roster speaks for itself, with Danny  Howells, Cristoph, Dubspeeka, D Nox & Beckers, Quivver, EdOne, Gorge and  Robert Babicz all contributing tracks and remixes.

Even by his high standards this mix is a beaut ❤ ; we are beyond grateful and feeling very honoured.  We really hope you enjoy this as much as we have.

An extensive list of achievements is testament to such elevated ideals, perhaps best showcased by the iconic 2005 "Balance 007" compilation; a groundbreaking CD at the vanguard of a fresh, innovative and underground sound movement, that history would later record as an aural blueprint for the worldwide dance music explosion that followed in the subsequent decade and beyond. A further eight commercially released mix albums would also contain the Chris Fortier DNA.

Never one to rest on his proverbial laurels, Chris' productions have seen him take on the mantle of highly regarded modern producer with releases spanning the underground sound including most recently on Bedrock, Selador, Balance, Mooseeka, Tulipa, Maya, Manual, Ground Factory, Maktub, Mindwarp and his own imprint Fade. His remixes and collaborations since 2009 tell their own tale, as Chris remains as integral, relevant and at the leading edge in the Underground as ever.
