Right after ending another top season in his Barcelona residency at NOM, Nick Varon returns to the label with a sensational new release!

Well known by Sudbeat fans, Nick Varon's sonic journey is the product of a long career that put him on the map of the best Greek Djs around. Signed to everyone from Balance Music to Mango Alley to Tale & Tone, his deep, silky vibes suit a wide range of tastes. 

Opening with title track 'Conclusions' were quickly refreshed on Varons signature style. Deeply melodic and utterly beguiling from the off, it builds nicely to the first drop where rubbery bass gentle caresses the ricochet percussion and crescendo-ing synths. New keys and a rhythmic woodblock keeps the energy up as the synth line billow and sway into the main drop. On the flipside, 'Underpass' is a darker companion. Saw-toothed synths ride the percussions building a subversive tension into the first break. Adding layers throughout, the track undergoes a transformation becoming deeply hypnotic.

Both huge names in the progressive house genre, Alex O’Rion & Ezequiel Arias join forces for a debut on Meanwhile as the GMJ & Matter led imprint celebrates its 34th release with “Solis”. Two further solo tracks from Alex O’Rion complete the musical picture.

An artist at the centre of the underground dance scene for almost 20 years and with over 400 production credits to his name, Alex O’Rion has been a Meanwhile regular, most notably with his landmark four-track “Echium” EP in May 2021. A trio of remixes for Rich Curtis and GMJ & Matter themselves bookend a powerful portfolio on the label. Similarly, Ezequiel Arias has found himself at the vanguard of the modern progressive house movement with his standout work for a host of blue-chip imprints including Anjunadeep, Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden. Now making his Meanwhile debut, Arias joins forces with Alex O’Rion as the duo showcase “Solis”.

The headline track is thus a powerful reminder of the combined talent of the Dutch and Argentinean pairing as “Solis” powers forward with chest-thumping kick and sublime bassline groove. Clave percussive flourishes add a summery vibe to proceedings as a filtered synth line gradually comes to the fore, mirroring the bassline foundation. Gently evolving across the 6-minute piece, a free-flowing synth line wends its way across the melodic collage while a beatless breakdown creates the perfect opportunity for a variation in the cadenced chord progression. Hitting its stride once more in the second half, “Solis” is a timely reminder of the silky-smooth skills and unrivalled craftsmanship of the talented duo.

“Pluvia” sees Alex O’Rion back on solo duties as a chunky beat and swung offbeat hi-hats create the perfect environment for crackling effects and pitched synths to flow in sparkling patterns against a backdrop of white-noise risers. Evolving with ease, subtle melodies play off each other in fluid rivulets of sound. Metallic wind chimes echo in random patterns as a smorgasbord of sound effects give the sonic impression of falling rain in a sparking track.

The final piece finds “Sericum” proving an apposite title as a smooth-roasted bass groove sits below deep kick and cavernous sub-bass pattern. A shuffling hi-hat top line provides subtle urgency as a mellifluous synth line flows like honey as the track reaches its mid-point. A reverb-soaked lead line adds harmonic variation as a vibrant breakdown creates the perfect moment of reflection. The rhythmic melange once again hits its mark again in the second half, accompanied by the array of opulent melodic elements introduced earlier in the piece.

Hailing from the island of Malta, Clyve is no stranger to the sounds of electronic music. Breaking onto the scene at the turn of the century as a techno DJ, his tastes have matured in recent times towards a more melodic style. His productions have started to make waves on the scene since 2021, and he’s quickly found his footing with releases on Plattenbank, Mango Alley and more, proving that he’s an artist with a lot to say who lets the music do his talking.

His first EP on Sudbeat opens with ‘Lights at Night’. Deeply intricate and ultimately satisfying, much like his incendiary DJ sets, a considered build up and subtle melodics have made this a secret weapon in progressive house dance floors for many months already.

‘Mirage in a Cloud’ rallies to round out the pack with aplomb. Wildly danceable and more upbeat than its partner, the percussive underbelly acts as the perfect framework for orchestral lines, arps and vocal adlibs. A fitting end of the night rabble-rouser of a tune.

Spanish duo Los Suruba have done it all over the last 25 years, captivating dancers with their blend of House, Minimal, Electro,
psychedelic, and deep vibes. They have established their own network of record labels, with almost 250 releases, Nazca being the latest addition. They’ve also released music on labels like Crosstown Rebels, Diynamic, and Get Physical and have been remixed by international artists such as Solomun, Adriatique, Clarian, and Okain. They describe their music as "Memories of the Future," the motto of their brand Nazca.

As DJs, they’ve performed at the world’s best clubs and festivals, bringing their unique sound across the globe, holding residencies
from Ibiza to London, and creating countless underground hits.
They are in top form once again with this latest journeying EP, where Los Suruba and their label Nazca return to vinyl releases, featuring two new remixers for this vinyl edition of the ‘+33 EP’.

Innovative opener 'Dial Banger' is a wonky house sound with wet claps and a gurgling bassline that gets ever more wild. It's a playful cut that teases and pleases in equal measure as the low-slung grooves, string stabs, and unhinged leads keep dancers locked. 'Elegancia La de Francia' is a more experimental house aﬀair with eerie synth leads and freaky ﬁltered vocals, making a dark and menacing atmosphere. Warm melodies infuse the track with soul and make it perfect for the late-night hours.

First remixer Cristina Lazic launched her own label La Zic, earlier this year. It's a platform that looks to uplift and mentor exceptional
female talents next to the Italian's own blend of minimal, deep and tech house sounds. Her fantastic take on 'Elegancia la de Francia' is stylish and stripped back with supple minimal drums and the muted synth sounds bubbling away over punchy kicks.

Romanian artist BRYZ has a reﬁned minimal sound that has established him in the European scene over the last decade. He deals in intricate melodies, pulsating rhythms, and atmospheric textures on labels like Storytellers and Esente Records. His version of 'Elegancia la de Francia' is silky and deft, with sustained pads locking you into a trance while gurgling bass and trippy melodic motifs add great detail to the rolling minimal house grooves.
