Ever since she migrated from pitching editors on the little-known music of Robert Nesta Marley to becoming one of the foremost chroniclers of the perfect storm of reggae, punk, hiphop and Afro-Beat, the London-born, New York-based Vivien Goldman has made documenting music her primary life work.  But between 1979-82, Goldman was also a working musician, creating songs that, years later, would be sampled by The Roots and Madlib. These rare girl grooves are now collected for the first time on 'Resolutionary', courtesy of Staubgold Records.

CK303's tribute mix to the father of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter. http://ow.ly/l2S7a

CK303's deep investigation into Daft Punk's influences led him to discover the music of Thomas Bangalter's father, Daniel Bangalter. Under the name Daniel Vangarde, the D.I.S.C.O. legend worked with the likes of Sheila B. Devotion, The Gibson Brothers, was sampled by Erykah Badu, wrote for Banarama and released under several monikers in France. Working with fellow writer and producer Jean Kluger as the Yamasuki Singers in 1971, they released cult album, Le Monde Fabuleux Des Yamasuki, as a pseudo-Japanese concept album of pop songs. The song "Aieaoa" on the album was later recorded, as "Aie a Mwana" by Bananarama, eventually becoming the first UK hit for them. He also worked extensively with 1980s act, La Compagnie Créole and was known for maing pop records with experimental tendencies such as left-field instrumental sections and incorporation of world music influences.
