In physics, the twin paradox is a thought experiment in special relativity involving identical twins, one of whom makes a journey into space in a high-speed rocket and returns home to find that the twin who remained on Earth has aged more. It is also the title of the album by acclaimed Slovenian DJ, producer and sound designer Evano, whose intuition and musical pedigree often make him seem like the space-travelling twin to his fans and peers.

Always operating out of left field, his ubiquitous approach was inspired by the concepts of duality and tangentiality which are reflected in the works on offer here. Deconstructed club rhythms that tickle the brain as much as the feet and sparse, dubby compositions exist alongside bitcrushed downtempo funk and luscious psychedelic soundscapes. "Twin Paradox" invites repeated listening and perfectly showcases the author's talent and sonic breadth, injecting his brand of experimental IDM with a sense of humour.

Evano - Alap Ornaments

Ctrl N is - in short - a compilation of musicians creating contemporary electronic music. It's creed is to present the current state of electronic music in Slovenia - hence the subtitle, which translates as "A chapter of Slovene electronics". The selected tracks were chosen by a crew of Radio Student music editorial journalists in a way that avoids the borders set by either genres, scenes or regions - quality and character are what designates the music on the compilation, which is definitely not dance-floor-shy and which nevertheless still retains a distinctively experimental flavor. 

The compilation will at first be released exclusively as a double 12" vinyl album, which releases on the 19th of March. The digital release is gonna follow up in April.

Imagine Apollo 13 mission commanded by Mika Vainio and ERP and you might get an idea of the intergalactic atmospherics crawling from the new Phi chapter. Slovenian minimalism afficionado Evano returns to Phi with an icy pulse that starts the electro romanticism on the first track and soon turns to hypnotic four to the floor pace. Atonal minimalism intensifies with the last two tracks but manages to make the vacuum of music space sound incredibly human.
