Featuring a cast that includes vocalist Jah Cure and production work from Bristol’s Interface and in-house go-to legend Marcus Visionary, Liondub adds neatly to an already a fast-paced new season with two revisitations of the 2009 lover’s smash “Never Find”.  The lyricism central to the massive original from Jah Cure and Don Corleon here takes on contrasting interpretations as DJ Die associate Interface sculpts it into a breathless roller propelled by weighty bass stabs interspersed with dramatic, reverberated vocal segments and pads. Visionary’s sophisticated rolling, musical jungle version employs large portions of the original vocals at original tempo; they’re joined gradually by building drum programming and interrupted by police sirens and rude boy drops at key moments to create something simultaneously faithful to the original and also transformative.  With two new and anthemic versions of a tune already regarded as a hit, Liondub International comes full force to usher in a slew of new fire for 2015 and beyond.

Had to be done... so I did it in a few hours before a party with @Massacooramaan back in August, but ended up not even playing it.  Not authentic or dancefloor friendly in the slightest but still fun/crazy.

Igniting 2013 with some serious skankology, Bristol’s Run Tingz Cru deliver one of their biggest releases to date… 

With their A&R skills sharpened and set to stun, Run Tingz quickly recognised the Drum & Bass and Jungle potential in Capitol 1212’s iconic ‘Don Man Sound’ and have revisioned it with two of their trademark dancefloor-driven rubs. 

First up, the Run Tingz Jungle remix: No genre complements Tenor Fly’s toasting more than Jungle, and this is verified proof: kicking off with a snatch of snappy beat-driven bars, nothing can prepare you for the dubby skank sonics that lay in wait. Bumping and grinding with energy and perfect pace, it pays respect to Tenor’s emphatic vocals while making the tune totally their own.

Not content with one massive speaker-shattering reversion, Run Tingz have also served up a Dirty remix for the bass heads among us. Opening with icy pads, it’s an instant stepback to the golden age of rave. Then, just as you’ve called up every surviving member of your whistle crew, in comes the wasp-like contemporary bassline, sizzling with 50 shades of menace. As elements old and new fuse with fury, this just keeps on giving. 

Fans of the Capitol 1212 swagger-soaked party joint, originally released in 2010, are also treated to a re-mastered version fresh for the New Year. Rolling on a heavy hip-hop break, the track oozes party flare, gradually building with a well-crafted horn refrain and a lyrical elasticity that conjures memories of Tenor’s trailblazing heritage work with the Freestylers in the late 90s. It’s the ultimate buzz cut fuelled and fronted by one of the most distinctive mic maestros in the game, drop this at any gathering and you’re guaranteed glorious vibes.

Cementing Run Tingz reputation as true Jungle connoisseurs, the South West sound scientists are about to give 2013 a dancefloor schooling. ‘Don Man Sound’ is the ultimate statement of intent. Recognise!
