New on Zatar Music is Fairplay with the Sandi EP, featuring the original title track and a remix by Niconé.

Fairplay, the Jordanian DJ and producer duo and Zatar residents, have gained recognition for their organic approach to electronic music, often infused with Middle Eastern and Arabic influences. 

With releases on labels like Kindisch, Stil vor Talent, and Bar 25, Faisal and Fuad craft deep and unpredictable productions. 
Their Zatar debut, Latlal, is nearing 500,000 streams on Spotify.

On Sandi, they draw from the North African Gwana tradition, using vocals from Moroccan singer and songwriter Asmaa Hamzaoui and the women’s vocal and percussion group Bnat Timbouktou’s Sandia. 
Sandi is a perfect example of this rich cultural heritage, enhanced with a thick, driving kick and fitting percussion.

Niconé, a seasoned name in Germany’s house and techno scene, brings his signature flair to the remix. Known for his work on Katermukke, Stil vor Talent, Bar 25, and his own label Dantze, he adds an Italo-disco feel with loopy samples, an arpeggiated bassline, and synthy stabs and claps.

Originally a standout track on Phonique's acclaimed album "Kissing Strangers", "Feel What You Want" quickly earned its place as a beloved anthem in the world of electronic dance music. 

Now, the legendary track returns with a mesmerizing twist - a slowed-down version that’s breathing new life into its legacy.

This reimagined rendition has taken social media by storm, becoming a viral sensation on TikTok. Users have embraced the sultry, atmospheric vibe to showcase their cinematic night drives, capturing the spirit of midnight adventures and racking up millions of views along the way.

With its haunting allure, the slowed-down version channels a mystic energy reminiscent of Kavinsky's iconic "Nightcall". It’s the perfect soundtrack for those seeking a dark, moody escape—whether cruising through neon-lit streets or indulging in your most enigmatic desires.

Phonique - Feel What You Want (Slowed Down)

Over the course of his two decade career, Phonique has never been one to stick rigidly to a single sound or genre, and over the last few years – during visits and performances in places like Jordan, Ukraine and Armenia – began experimenting with more organic house and melodic sounds in both his sets and the studio. 

“Zatar Music is going to be my main focus, both for my own productions and artists I believe are making extraordinary music. I will of course continue to release on other labels, but Zatar gives me the opportunity to fully explore the more organic, melodic side of my production. We have some truly incredible releases planned which I can’t wait to share with you”, says Phonique.

The inaugural release on Zatar Music will come from the aforementioned Korolova, on Phonique’s breakout hit Feel What You Want feat. Rebecca. 

Korolova is a Ukrainian talent who has exploded onto the melodic house and techno scene at impressive speed. In just one year, she played 60 shows in 20 countries, picked up 4.6 million Spotify streams, 30 million views on YouTube and released tracks on influential labels such as AFTR:HRS, Get Physical Music and Armada. Her slick and stylish productions - whether solo or with the likes of Jan Blomqvist, Spada or Tube & Berger - combine rolling drums with delicate keys, evocative vocals and spine-tingling chord progressions.

For her remix of Feel What You Want, Korolova builds on the progressive elements inherent in the original, combining billowing pads and sidewinding synth lines alongside an epic break: a true masterclass in building both tension and atmosphere.

The second release on Phonique’s new label Zatar Music comes from Jordanian duo Fairplay: a gorgeous, deep, melodic house cut inspired by their local heritage and featuring vocals from Sahrawi singer Mariem Hassan.

Bringing a modern perspective to nomadic-style music, Jordanian alternative duo Fairplay intricately weave musical textures, with their music characterized by an eclectic, deep, and unpredictable approach. Releasing on labels like Kindisch, Stil Vor Talent and Bar 25 their approach favours organic sounds, often focussing on the trippy and the obscure, to create deeply layered, spellbinding productions.

Formed by Faisal and Fuad who met in their native Jordan before moving to study in the UK and USA, the duo started out promoting their Kollective Music parties, which welcomed electronic stars like Phonique, DJ T., Subb-An and Mihai Popoviciu. Buoyed by the success of these events they formed Fairplay and started Djing and producing together.

From the very start the music they made had always been deep, unpredictable and evocative, with Fairplay often incorporating Middle Eastern and Arabic sounds and instruments into their productions. Now Fairplay enter a new chapter of their sound with the release of Latlal.  

Inspired by their rich cultural heritage, they combine their trademark hypnotic melodies, with an evocative vocal sample, resulting in a track that embodies their message of staying true to ones roots while simultaneously being an entirely modern slice of melodic house. 

On the remix, longtime collaborators Anturage & Alexey Union bring their own unique flavour to Latal. Harnessing the uplifting power of Hassan’s vocal sample, they steadily build layers of percussion and synthlines, creating a crisp, progressive cut that patiently builds the tension. 

Zatar Music is a new label from Berlin-based award-winning producer Phonique, which launched in July 2022 with a brand new remix of Feel What You Want  - one of his best-loved records - from Ukraine’s breakout star Korolova.

Fairplay drop three remix versions of Latlal on their latest release from Zatar Music.  

The original appeared on Phonique’s new label in August, and now the Jordanian duo called in some big guns to add a spin to one of the tracks of 2022. 

First up is Hyenah, a resident of Watergate’s famed RISE afro house parties. The main version balances the incredible vocals of Mariem Hassan with shuffling beats and a driving groove that draws from across the African continent and beyond. With releases on Freerange, Rise Music and Watergate Records Hyenah created his own signature sound over the past years and released his debut album 'Love In Time Of Crisis' in 2022.

The instrumental gives more space for the production to shine - definitely one for the DJs. 

Additionally the Spada remix brings in a melodic tech-house element to the track, further widening the reach of Fairplay’s essential original. Spada just founded his own label Ultimo Paradiso and gained attention with his releases on Diynamic, Anjunabeat, Armada and Stil vor Talent.

The new Zatar Flavors 03 continues the series of presenting new and exciting sounds from around the world, and this time we get a double header from Dare U & Hidden Dimension and Acrobat. 

Dare U is is the project of Brazilian producer André Reich from Blumenau, Santa Catarina - a DJ and producer with 15 years of experience in the electronic music scene, while Hidden Dimension is a DJ / producer duo developed by Luis David Leal "Jockerts" (Venezuelan) and Bastian Riveros (Chilean). Their Tribe track here is a melodic tribal house cut full of energy and drama with an amazing hook. 

Acrobat from Koh Phangan, Thailand, the man behind legendary underground island parties, who presents Pure Action - a tight tech house workout with melodic flourishes and well chosen vocal samples.

New on Zatar is a three tracker from NIIXII, the DJ and producer based in Barcelona. Her Magia cut is deep, melodic tech house track with a bewitching melodic flourish referencing middle eastern roots. It's hypnotic and affecting and the perfect calling card for NIIXII’s distinct take on house.  

Magia is also remixed by Wally Lopez here, who addis his own sprinkling of magic to the track. As Wally describes:  "I'm a huge fan of Zatar and when they sent me some original songs I knew that we had something special on Magia and wanted to put my touches on it“.  

The EP is rounded off nicely with One Last Dance, a beautiful deep cut with oceans of ambience that will be as equally at home at sunset as sunrise.

Zatar number 25 lands with a four track EP from Roo & Starving Yet Full - a collaboration between one of Jordan’s electronic music pioneers Roo, and Starving Yet Full - aka Cédric Gasaïda, formerly the lead vocalist in the electronic band Azari & III, and hailing from Rwanda originally. 

Ihorere is an atmospheric afro house track with deep vocals and a spiritual depth through a crystal-edged production. 

The Floyd Lavine Remix brings the African Tales label owner's touch to the original, adding more percussive elements and letting the groove to expand in his own inimitable way. 

He also shares an instrumental version for the DJs wanting to switch up the vocal with the original.

Rod Brito is a Brazilian artist who has been refining his craft for over two decades, travelling the world and soaking up influences for his unique brand of expressive, atmospheric electronic music. 

With this release on the ever impressive Zatar, we get a glimpse into some of those influences via Kamanche - shared here in its original form and via a remix from Namito. 

The original is a vibey exploration into groove, featuring esoteric instrumentation on top of a driving rhythm section. The whole thing is augmented by additional percussion that brings the track into a new dimension. 

The Namito remix strips the groove down and builds it back up in a new way, giving a slightly new feel that stays true to the spirit of the original.

This Shake For Me EP features the original version of the title track, an extended version and three mixes from Amsterdam’s Mason -  the Dutch DJ and producer who has worked with and remixed some of the biggest names in pop and electronic music.  

Shake for Me is a slinky house / indie dance cut with a sultry and suggestive vocal, utilising NILU’s innate grasp of groove and arrangement.  

The extended version is the one for the DJs, spun out over seven glorious minutes and taking it’s time to fully set the mood. 

The Mason Remixes bring a new vibe - an urgent, gripping ride with rising instrumentation and firing drums. The extended version gives us the version that will no doubt be rinsed across festivals and clubs globally, while the instrumental strips away the vocals and gets back to basics.
