DJs are a nomadic people. Drifting between venues, airports and hotel rooms, they're always on the hunt for new music and clubbing activity. They are, indeed, the Bohemians of the 21st Century. Or as Britta Arnold, unders and Noraj Cue would call them: Happy Campers. 

The sophomore release for their brand new imprint Happy Camper Records comes from Bar25 legend, KaterBlau resident and Berlin mainstay Jake The Rapper. The American-born singer/dj/producer has been in Germany long enough now to understand the art of making an Ohrwurm. 'Time To Waste' is one of those tunes that keeps resonating inside your head long after you've heard it. With its thumping beat, catchy vocals and roaring synthline, it's bound to set any dancefloor ablaze. 

Although many believe 'Time To Waste' is a love song, Jake actually wrote it for his friends: "I was at Kater one morning, getting tired of the cyclicality of raving, thinking I really ought to go home and kiss my wife, take care of my kids, get some sleep, get my life together and get some music done. Some friends wanted me to stay and keep dancing. I was like: 'If I had any time to waste, I'd waste it with you. But I don't so… Bye!'" 

As is custom in the Happy Camper family, a string of befriended producers have given their own interpretations to the original. In dOP's remix, a mesmerizing synth that sounds a lot like a harmonica almost gives it a chanson feel, were it not for its relentless bassline and acid bleeps. Skilfully fucking up the vocals beyond recognition, Iories takes a more slow-burning and epic approach with his Dystopian Sundown mix. And Signal Flow & Pattern Drama aim for that end of the night magic with an epic stomper of a remix. Dancefloor detonation guaranteed.

Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. At one point we pass a dog standing by the tracks, staring vacantly at the train rushing by. Watching this scenery makes me feel warm and calm all over again. “You’re going to be okay”, I tell myself, taking a deep breath. All you can do is forge on ahead and call the Ancestors. SANGEET’s giving us a spiritual downtempo ceremonia, embracing our senses with warm, positive vibes while ELFENBERG, UDASA and BEYHUDE taking care of our music pleasure in this long running journey into the inner depths of unknown places and mysterious paths. 2018 has been a magnificent year for the Happy Camper family. Much has happened since the imprint burst unto the scene with HCR001, ‘Story at the Campfire.’ Five releases further down the line, the family is bigger than ever, and the signature sound is ever more refined. This sixth EP by German favorite Iorie is another team effort. And with Sam Shure, Genii, Unders and Noraj Cue on remix duties, you know it’s set to rip floors across the globe. 

Iorie is a remarkable human being. He’s been singing, playing instruments and producing music since the tender age of 15. Inspired by his extensive travels and his many international encounters, Iorie writes cryptic lyrics, which he sings in mesmerizing ways. Happy Camper crossed his path in KaterBlau (where else) and instantly fell in love with his tantalizing vocals and sounds. 

Both the original mixes on this Less Is More EP showcase Iories exquisite ear for details, and his knowledge of musical theory. More may sound soothing at first, but you’re in for a treat as soon as the synthesizer starts ripping it. Both Sam Shure and Genii have made some excellent reinterpretations, Sam Shure adding a delicate and euphoric pads and pianos, and Genii taking it down a notch for those extra slow-burning vibes. 

Less takes you deeper into the dark night, its compelling bassline wooing you into a state of hypnosis, before hurling you back on your tippy toes again. Happy Camper head honchos unders & Noraj Cue team up for a very tribal contribution. Feel the drums resounding through your limbs, as you bounce your way to blissful oblivion.
