With a moniker list longer than the population Croydon, Hervé, one of the most acclaimed UK dance music producers and DJs of the past decade brings us a straight dance floor filler. Growing up in the bustling music scene of London, Aaron Snapes championed old school hip hop, drum and bass, trance, and garage before house music eventually took over. Never one to get caught up in the compartmentalization of genres though, Aaron has a simple and easy guideline in the studio, “I just want to make fun, groovy music for people to dance to.” Further detailing his musical canvas with his imaginative music, Aaron keeps bodies movin’ and beats jackin’ as he returns to Perfect Driver Music for the On It EP out on December 8th.

“On It” will surprise you at the beginning of the extended player with its borrowed minor keys and will then delight you with an attention to detail that sprinkles percussion in triplet form overtop shuffling claps and snares. Up next is “Know You Better” whose bassline bounces like a guttural bayonet and then leads you to rising melodies that melt into detuned menagerie. On the remix tip, Treasure Fingers brings trouble and midrange bass with his edit of “On It” while Jay Robinson reconstructs the melody’s chord structure. Closing out the remixes (and the EP entirely) is Eyes Everywhere’s version of “On It” with a back-to-basics nature, impacting harder than one might first think.

Whether he’s bringing the space bass or vibing with the Amsterdam underground, for 2014 Aaron Snapes is
definitely on it.

Happy new year y'all!

I chose to do a bootleg of this track, combining RP Boo's 'Superbust' with 'Bardwell's Disaster' by The Black Dog as both artists are heavily influential to my current style.  I wasn't able to find the track 'Superbust' anywhere except for RP Boo's amazing Fact mix, so in order to play it I had to make my own version.  I've been really feeling footwork and juke recently and in order to play it in a techno set, I have to slow it down about 25%, which makes the tracks feel weird and dark, fit in well with my general aesthetic. The words on the original are kind of unintelligible so I kind of made it up as I went along, but I think it turned out well. If you like it, I hope you go into a wormhole get into RP Boo and The Black Dog as they're both real legends and this cover/bootleg is an homage to them.

An artist whose music pulses with the energy of a ballroom in full flow, Kiddy Smile’s career has gone stratospheric since he made his debut on Defected in 2016 with ‘Let A Bitch Know’. A record embedded in the dance rituals and traditions of the scene in which Kiddy is an influential character, the track snapped with the energy of dancer voguing and expressing themselves on the dancefloor. Traversing the worlds of music and fashion, working with the houses like Balmain, Balenciaga and Alexander Wang, it seems fitting that a fellow star of both worlds, Honey Dijon, would now remix his Defected debut for the labels’ disco counterpart Glitterbox. Adapting the instinctive danceability of Kiddy’s original, Honey brings her distinctively bold and hedonistic style to the ballroom inspired cut, producing a remix destined for the darkest recesses of the dancefloor. As well as a brand new Club Mix from Kiddy himself, this package also features two remixes of his second Defected release ‘Teardrops In The Box’, adapted for Glitterbox’s disco-tinged sound.
