Background radio waves personally caught through websdr, SDR-radio application or own shortwave receiver. All instruments and production - me as well. It's less riff-based, more ambient material than usual. And what's more ambient than the sky full of distant voices?

Make it up as you go along

Short jam inspired by (and using) mysterious shortwave noises recorded via remote SDR receiver. There was an open microphone in some room somewhere far away broadcasting ambient noises on 7.050MHz and it was weird enough.

Eleanor Roygbiv

This is technically a remix, I just don't know of what. I liked the sound of something heard on the radio behind the wall of static so I've recorded it and did a short tune around it. Guest vocals (and expressions of sheer joy) courtesy of Italian ham radioists.

Drums, bass, guitar by me, rest - medium- and shortwave stars international.

850kHz

Another soothing combination of static, unhinged American Christian radio, Irish weather broadcasts in Italian(?), e06 number station and my vague idea of what "intonating a guitar" means. Stuff as usual. Single takes, no editing, it's a jam innit.

I love software radio. There's a Dutch pirate around 1600kHz that will set your lederhosen on fire with his deadly volksmusik sets.

Radio jamming #74

I made a new jam, finally. Hodgepodge of space rock, dub and  clap-yo-hands arena rock sandwiched between electro intro and outro. Has its moments. 

Presented in Dolby 120BPM, made using the finest selection of Dunlop guitar picks with naked girls on them. Not to mention my snazzy new Ibanez bass. Make no mistake, this is a high budget production.

Rearward Effort

Another one from my imaginary band, where keyboard guy never uses more than three fingers with three chords, owns a stack of old radios and everyone gets high on motion sickness pills. Also bassist should play more often to avoid getting blistered fingers. Ouch.

Misfit Sorbet

I've got meself a little USB floor controller with expression pedal (L6 FBV express), so there's a bit of guitar quacking here courtesy of POD farm wahs.    Aside of this, usual business, heavy-ish (altough standard-tuned) guitar, a sprinkle of synth pads, 5 string bass and laborious editing  out of more jarring signal interferences.

Some abstract noises taken from the soundtrack of an animated short Maszyna Trurla(1975). Initial plan was to use only TV samples, but couldn't find many I'd really like :(. Picture is a crop of an old Radio Netherlands QSL I found on the internet.

Cold Waves

Some more quasi AMbient. Couldn't help myself tho and there are drums, altough reverbed a lot.  Everything traditionally personally keyboarded, guitared, sampled and Akai'd out by yours truly. Inspiration provided by Orbus Terrarum  by The Orb and the ghost of Holger Czukay(pictured), who recently ascended to a different part of the RF spectrum.

Over The Horizon

Something to put at the beginning of the AM set, short intro that leads to whatever will be after the staticky end part. No drums at all this time. Intro sample from some China National Radio programme I think.

Transient

Lets take a break from radio noises: this time background is padded with some urban ambience samples, mostly by miastodzwiekow@freesound and some recorded by me while strolling amongst commieblocks of my neighborhood with Zoom H1. Commieblocks is totally a theme here. All keyboard sounds generated outboard, with my spanky new Novation Ultranova.

Plattenblau

Made to be a closer to "it Hertz" playlist that suddenly became an album. Came out kinda okay. Drums ran through Fokke van Saane's excellent factory hall impulse.

Permanent

Made with with my weird new-old guitar with lipstick single coil pickups (Hohner Revelation X-III), tried to make it sound not too jangly. Tanpura drone in C# in the first section and outro tabla loop via freesound(by sankalp and afleetingspeck, respectively).

One day I'll make one that doesn't sound identical to all the previous. At least the outro is sort of improved with that loop.

Switching Noises

I normally don't do covers, but now, why not. This is Cryogenics by Porcupine Tree, probably one of their most obscure pieces, performed only a handful of times while touring 1995-1997 and never recorded in studio. There seems to be just a couple of bootleg recordings of it, and no covers whatsoever. So now there's one. I tried to figure the entire thing out based on a single 1995 live recording, skipping the slow intro and outro bits, though.
