Without Hesitation

Elements is a tribute to alchemy, the transformation of matter. I always believed that sampling has the potential to transform a dusty, forgotten moment into a vibrant landscape of fantastic impossibilities. Music has an alchemic property, transforming silence into song, nothing into something. I chose Fire, Air, Water, and Earth, the four basic element of alchemy, as seeds for these songs. 
The first, Slivers of Light, represents fire, the sun, and the light given by both. Your Ghost, a song dedicated to the memory of my father Tadeusz Menert, signifies the element of air, and the unseen spirits therein. Eventide's two parts embody the duality of water: Part 1 is the turbulent high tide, water's destructive powers, crashing along the shores into Part 2, which sweeps through the lifegiving and cleansing properties, a low tide of sorts. The album closes with Quiet Earth, a song for my mother, Jolanta, as well as the earth that we chisel away at as a species. This song begins with the noise of humanity, with a lone voice cry out "Do you see, just what you mean to me" until the commotion calms, signifying the end of us, a finality, a quiet earth. 
I hope you enjoy what I consider my favorite work so far, remastered and released as a whole, digitally, for the first time ever.

“-In an era stamped by chaotic change, an ever-increasing number of paths to follow in ones life, and uncertain environmental conditions, it is easy to get confused and overwhelmed by it all. Searching for truth in beauty seems to be the only way that makes sense these days. "A song is a path - you make it straight and clean then you walk along it." My own path has led me through narrow alleys into a blooming, buzzing field where sounds flower in the physical realm. Negotiating the pitfalls of mundane reality, spinning through the turnstiles of our civilization we try, not to get “Lost in the Twisted Back Streets."

The Fabric EP finds Northeastern glitch hop head Tygris leading a tour through dark urban nights filled with rumbling bass and distorted voices that echo down hidden sonic passageways. All four songs flow deliberately into the next, with careful motifs connecting the entire project. It kicks off with classic rap vocal samples, ends with dirty, dense verses from the quick-witted Rasp 5, and is punctuated by a collaboration with Wax Future.

Consistent hip-hop rhythms serve as a familiar jumping off point that listeners can lean into. This sets the stage for an interplay of experimental sound design and aggressively manipulated vocal samples. Voices are stretched and peeled apart as Tygris plies them both for their unique sonic properties and their ability to express thoughts. Precise calculations create just the right pitch and veneer on a series of bass synthesizers. Then the entire weight of the sound is tumbled to and fro, tossed, turned and mashed down like a piece of play-doh. With the vocals tumbling along in tandem, Fabric becomes a maelstrom of head-bopping psychedelic bass that’s impossible to ignore.
