We welcome back Gru Var, a producer who made his Southpoint debut on the 'Moony & Movement Presents' compilation earlier in the year. As one of the most forward-thinking UKG producers, we were super impressed with his unique take of the genre, presenting you with his latest single, 'An Excercise In Detail'. We are given an array of seriously twisted garage style drums and grimey synths, backed up with some unpredictable sub and percussion work. This one is a must-have for DJs around the UK.

Fresh off the heels of our 2nd release - Blue Cookie EP - Gather Records are back with Binary Cuts; four heavyweight steppers guaranteed to dismember any dancefloor courtesy of the dynamic duo: On1 and ZeroFG.

A1 “Push” wastes no time getting into some heavyweight, early 00’s style, rib-shattering bass-weight, whilst “Knee Deep” builds the tension to the absolute maximum before letting loose in the fashion that these guys are all too good at.
Over on the flip, the jittering technoid/proto-dubstep style rhythms of “Vexed” seems as though they’re almost designed to bring out the wiggiest moves from dancers with the B2 cut “Final Round” perfectly closing off the EP with skippy beats and spacey atmospherics perfectly primed for those late hour zoners.

These two talented guys have been right at the forefront of the garage resurgence delivering deep, dark rollers that never fail to make you give the gun finger salute and we're very honoured to have them on the label!

Zefer's evolution has continued with a slew of releases and activity across 2023. Fresh off the back of his hugely successful Shawty / No Future release on New York’s Nervous Records, which received extensive support on BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra, Apple Music 1 and Soulection Radio, Zefer has further delivered dancefloor ready collaborations with artists including Namani, MaZz and Liam Bailey. The London based producer has been in exceptional form in recent months, teaming up with Novelist on his prime time Reprezent Radio slot, whilst also performing iconic sets at sell out shows at the legendary Printworks (b2b with Riz La Teef) and XOYO, for the 30 Years of Matt Jam Lamont event.

The artist's work behind the scenes across the UK Garage landscape have not gone unnoticed, with significant contributions to the genre being achieved via Zefer's label Steppers Club. This most recently took form in the imprint's ground breaking ‘Steppers Globe’ project, whereby the label collaborated with UKG artists and institutions based in Mumbai, Tokyo, Melbourne and Los Angeles. The project was heavily supported by the likes of DJ Mag, Mixmag, Mixmag Asia, Resident Advisor, UKF & more.
