What does one do when a loved one dies?  Peel off their face and wear it as your own, of course. Zelda Belladonna, of Saskatoon punk-noir sensation Belladonna and the Temp’s, has peeled off her own face and stretched it back on in her new group Zelda Belladonna and the Deadly nightshades. They are tantalizingly tough and switchblade smart, driving riffs like wooden stakes into pop rock’s swollen, gluttonous heart. Musically, Zelda Belladonna and the Deadly Nightshades are Amy Winehouse, Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Brody Dalle from the Distillers, bloodied and unbroken, wielding bats and wearing brass knuckles, after duking it out with the The Gore Gore Girls, Social Distortion, Forgotten Rebels and the Misfits in a back alley brawl. Continuing her message of brash bravado, black tooth grins, and blatant malcontent, Zelda Belladonna (lead vox, guitar) and her new line up, consisting of members from The Classy Chassys, the Speedhammers, Lavagoat, Rehashed, and Savage Henry and the Infamous One Pounders, Matt Joyal (guitar, vox), Graeme Burke (guitar), The Brother (bass), and Rob Barisoff (Drums) have their sonic scythes held high to lop off heads and castrate minds.  Zelda Belladonna and the Deadly Nightshades are slouching towards musicdom with slobbering, unsated chops, devouring minds and emasculating egos with hook-filled, power punk-noir at its finest.
