My special guest this week is Hansi, a DJ, Producer and Sound Engineer from St Albans in the UK. Hansi was immersed in music from an early age, going to gigs with his Dad who was a Jazz Drummer. He was once the bass player in a band, until his DJ career took off in the 90s, when he played at clubs and festivals throughout the UK, spinning rare groove, funk and house. He still has a staggering collection of vinyl from those days, with an estimated 3000-4000 records.

In 2000 he started a DJ night in St Albans called The Monday Club which became a bit of an institution running for a mighty 10 years and featuring both local and established DJs such as Dreadzone, The Freestylers, Brandon Block, Flux Pavillion, Chris Clark, Nicky Blackmarket, Sigma etc

In 2004 he started running a local live music venue called The Horn which was subsequently nominated for UK Music Pub of The Year at The Great British Pub Awards 5 times, winning it 3 times.

More recently Hansi started making remixes and edits of classic funk and soul tracks, breathing new life and energy into them. They are released under his own successful record label, Viking Grooves, and his most recent EP hit the number 1 spot in the Junodownload charts. Born during lockdown (wasn't everything) Smoove decided to embark on a new project called Multitrack Reworks, by sourcing rare studio original tapes containing individual stems / multitrack layers. At first it was just out of curiosity to see if he could extract drum layers, but once he started digging Smoove had unearthed something rather special. 

Everything from Grace Jones to David Bowie, Chaka Khan and Barry White, has all went under Smoove's meticulous scalpel blade. Using his extensive DJ background and creative production knowledge, Smoove delivers beautifully mixed, extended versions, while keeping the original artists in mind and treating each track with the utmost respect. Extended intros, exposed breakdowns and playful build ups with epic drops!
