Vocal and instrumental group Zemljotres (Earthquake) was founded on July 20, 2008 in Aradac, RS. The band plays mostly rock and roll with elements of blues, country and progressive sound. The idea to form the band came in May, 2008 from Janko Hrubik (guitar) and Jano Litavski (vocals), and in July they were joined by Ivan Hrubik (drums) and Vladimir Bagljaš (bass). Ivan Hrubik couldn't enter the band earlier because they waited for him to grow up (they are still waiting).
A great impact on the group came from bands like Atomsko Sklonište, Riblja Čorba, Psihomodo Pop, Buldožer, AC/DC, Rolling Stones and others, so the band began covering their songs. They had their first gig in October in Belo Blato, where they received an amazing support from the audience and decided to continue with their work. From the very beginning they performed wearing unusual clothing, and using various props, thus turning every show into an unforgetable performance. Since then, Zemljotres was shaking the stages on biker parties and other big events, and earned a reputation of a biker-following band. They joined the competition on Radio 202 and Live Shot on Channel 9 in Novi Sad, where they reached the finals.
At the beginning of 2009, Mihal Labat (keyboards) joined Zemljotres. Before Labat joined the band, they had the idea for their first album. During 2009, they completed the songwriting process for their first album, and promoted the songs on their shows. The songs were very well received, and that was the additional motivation for them to continue with their own work. At the beginning of 2010, Litavski left the band and Labat took his place with lead vocals. Aside from many shows during 2011 they recorded a demo titled "Šest stepeni Rihterove skale" (Six degrees on the Richter scale). While they still played at many shows in 2012, they also prepared for the recording of their first album. In 2013 they entered the studio and recorded "Šest stepeni Rihterove skale".
A few months later, Mihal Labat left the band due to his marital duties, and Danijel Karabenč - Deni took his place. He performed many times with the band as their additional member. By introducing another electric guitar as a substitute for the piano, the band got its new, heavier sound. They continued to play at biker parties, clubs and music festivals. They won the second place on FARBA fest, and they also had a few TV appearances.
At the beginning of 2014, the lineup changed again, and Ivan Hrubik and Vladimir Bagljaš were replaced by drummer Veselin Grcić and bass player Petar Paštrović, and they remained active members of the band to this day. While still working on their new songs, the group continued to play many shows, on one occasion with Yu Grupa. Soon after that, they got offered to play a few shows in Slovakia. That helped them reach a new audience and prove that a foreign language is no obstacle for them. After returning from Slovakia, the guitar player Janko Hrubik becomes the lead vocalist, and the band starts preparing the second album.
In 2015, they opened two shows in Belgrade and Bački Petrovac for a well-known Slovakian punk-rock band Ine Kafe during their European tour. Danijel Karabenč left Zemljotres after that, and the band played as a threesome ever since. A local celebrity from Zrenjanin, Panta Šiklja Nafta joined them on one of their shows, and they played a couple of his songs together that were very well accepted by the audience. At the end of 2015, they toured in Slovakia again and made the next step with their new songs. The band enters the studio and records the songs for the album “Sokrat ponovo jaše” (Socrates rides again), which should be finished by the end of February.
