3 hours of synthesized/generative rain for use as an ambient environment. This is part of an ongoing experiment in designing water-based sound spaces. There is a 9 hour version available for an uninterrupted all day/night experience. Perfect for meditation, yoga, reading and general chilling-out. How might precious water be perceived without having direct access to it?

A custom ambient environment, specifically designed to transform architectural space into a sonic vessel that endlessly fills and empties with unseen water/fluid.
As a native Californian and once Floridian, this piece was inspired by my observations of drought,tropical storms, agriculture, landscape modification and cultural acceptances/dependencies regarding water usage and rights.
This generative  composition is a seamless loop that allows the properties of the listening space (surface composition and position relative to the listener)to augment the illusory properties of the sound. Speaker placement and volume will of course greatly enhance the effect. Hallways and courtyards seem to fill with hundreds of gallons of water while small rooms imply quantities one might experience with tubs or large basins.

Slosh 30 Min (Unlimited water supply)

This is a two hour generative-based piece that established an ambient backdrop outside a cabin during Spectacular Subdivisions. It was inspired by the haunting sounds of debris and decay of materials within dying or dead community structures and buildings. Myself and other UCSB MFAs were invited to contribute works and performances.
"Spectacular Subdivisions" was an exhibition project curated by Jay Lizo and co-organized by Hi- Desert Test Sites (HDTS) and LA-based art group, Monte Vista Projects. The exhibition invited artists to reflect across a range of sites and mediums on questions of housing and real estate in the aftermath of the post-2008 housing crisis.
The exhibition took place in two areas. One area at Iron Age Road in Wonder Valley where large scale sculptures were arranged in a cul de sac formation. The second location took place in a rental cabin called El Paseo Ranch owned by Laura Sibley.
The exhibition date took place in April the weekend of April 4 - 6, 2014.

Three minute edit of the original 3 Hour Rain soundtrack. All sounds were created using generative synthesis. No samples or field recordings of any kind were used. 3 Hour Rain is an experiment in creating a custom ambient environment. It is  influenced by my childhood memories of listening to the rain and sounds of traffic from the backseat of a car, somewhere near San Francisco.

3 Hour Rain (3 Minute Edit)

There's a certain sense of insulation up here, safely nestled a bird's eye above the ground. In the distance a river traces its stalwart path, the horizon bends to the will of celestial bodies, and the smell of oranges drifts into the air and onto rail-carved destinations. Up here it's safe to dream of shores both distant and distinct, to grow older with each passing light-filled day. Up here there are sonic reveries to create.
