Unable or perhaps unwilling to speak, a catatonic patient wanders the halls, between the buildings, and along the circular tree-lined avenue inside the walled enclosure of San Salvi, Florence, Italy’s former insane asylum. This short novel consists of the unspoken words of its narrator’s struggle to reconcile his individuality with conformity, his interior solitude with the social world, his silence with speaking.
	
The book contains both an English and an Italian version of the text (translated by the author in collaboration with poet Verusca Costenaro), as well as illustrations by artist Tatiana Stadnichenko and can be purchased at Blurb.com. An audio version of the full text with musical accompaniment by Robert English will be available on Bandcamp.com on Halloween, 2022.
