Embedded into Leipzig’s scene since 2015, @ttyfal [she/her] is a journalist, promoter and producer - but first and foremost, she’s a DJ. Starting her own party series xa’li:t in 2019 pushing FLINTA* artists only, she quickly reckoned that this was the way to go for her. Amy currently writes articles for frohfroh, Leipzig’s leading magazine for electronic music with a strong focus on socially relevant issues. Furthermore, she is not only part of the zeitraum collective and a former member of the INPUT event series at Institut fuer Zukunft, but she is also more deeply integrated into the club's structures. Musically, breaks breaks breaks is the motto. While all types of club-centred breakbeats are what she focusses on, Amy loves to dip into all kinds of house music as well as UK garage and other UK-originating genres. If you’re gonna hear her play, get ready for a wild ride.

In dieser Sendung ist Jonas Klingberg (https://soundcloud.com/klingberg) zu Gast, der schon seit Jahren aus dem subkulturellen Leben in Freiburg sowohl als Veranstalter - von aktuellen Partyreihen wie "points" im Slow Club oder der momentan nicht mehr stattfindenden Reihe "All Under One Roof Raving" im Artik - als auch als DJ nicht mehr wegzudenken ist. Auch über Freiburg hinaus hat sich Klingberg bereits einen Namen gemacht, unter anderem durch die Gründung und das Betreiben des Labels "Reach Another System" (RAS) (https://rasrecords.bandcamp.com/). Der Sound des Labels reicht von Wave über Industrial bis hin zu EBM und Techno. Mit Jonas spreche ich über die Anfänge des Labels, das day-to-day des Labelbetriebs, dessen kuratorisches Konzept und auch über den einen oder anderen Release sprechen. Anschließend spielen wir noch eine Runde b2b.

Bei "Radio Impuls" geht es grundsätzlich um elektronische Musik. Im Zentrum stehen dabei die Neugier für den Sound, die Geschichte und die Entwicklungen von experimentelleren Genres, die sich an den Grenzen der Clubmusik entwickeln. Im Fokus stehen die Fragen, wie verschiedene Subgenres sich gegenseitig beeinflussen, wie dies mit der subkulturellen Szene, bestimmten Künstler*innen, Labeln und Orten zu tun hat. Auf der Sound-Ebene ist die Sendung damit die Fortsetzung dessen, was die "Impuls Crew" in Freiburg (https://soundcloud.com/impuls-crew) durch Auflegen und das Veranstalten von Partys unter anderem beabsichtigt: Neugier zu schaffen, um neugierig zu bleiben für andere, neue Left-Field-Sounds innerhalb der elektronischen Clubmusik.

genrefluid trip: experimental, breaks, weird beats

FLAX is a Weimar-based DJ, sound artist, and cultural manager with a diverse background in various music scenes and subcultures. She started her journey as a DJ with the foundation of the network Metaware Weimar in 2019 and has since worked in various roles, including concept artist, music teacher, event manager, booker, and sound artist. Her style is described as "genrefluid trips" that blend different genres and sounds.

FLAX is currently pursuing musicology and cultural management studies at the music university Weimar, where she researches the field of "music and well-being," the history of electronic music & sound art, and the intersection of "music & gender" in club culture. She is also committed to inspiring and empowering young FLINTA* people through workshops.

FLAX is working on the production of her debut album project and has been teaching at the Bauhaus University Weimar since 2022 to further her research.

"What always drives me is my love for music. It's not the world that's unfair, it's the people who don't know any other perspectives. I will tirelessly play demanding and progressive sound on the stages I stand on because that's what drives me - curiosity, love for sound, and a desire to experiment. New spaces, sound scapes, whatever and diverse perspectives are realities of life, realities(!) and I want to hear and see them for real.
