Barkosina Hanusova's voice is surely one of the elements that we best associate with a musical project such as Years of Denial, and even with the current European industrial and electronic scene. We can say that her singing, the mixture of harmonics she emits, could perfectly well be part of the heritage of humanity for all that it represents, but Barkosina is not only a voice, her artistic facet is not only limited to her activity as a singer, her cultural range is wide, she dominates various artistic disciplines and with her new solo project she only shows us a part of it.

Unlike other musical genres, this scene, which we can call industrial and which is usually combined with other experimental or electronic styles, is often linked to other artistic currents, whether it be graphic design used in covers, performance, visuals or even literature. Barkosina brings together several of these subjects in her artistic trajectory, so it was only to be expected that her solo debut would not be a singular record release.

Fasting Culture is a 10-track album with a diverse sonic development. Each cut expresses a different feeling and situation, from the spirituality of "Self Transcendence", to the introspection of "Star Gaze", the restlessness of "Dead Song", the magnificence of "Art Is", the momentum of "Imagining Things", the dystopian discourse of "Beautiful World", the placidity of "Waves Alone", the confident state of "Never-Ending", the dynamism of "Burning Hope" and the emotional playfulness of "Inside You".

Surely, many fans of Years of Denial would have thought that in this solo project Barkosina would give more prominence to her voice, but this is not the case, it only appears in four tracks and in one of them it is barely noticeable, therefore, this album is a sample of her creative talent to mix and build textures from different sonic concepts. In addition, Fasting Culture is published together with a book that Barkosina Hanusova herself has elaborated with photographs, short essays and poems.

The aphorism "Unity is strength" is not always such an unquestionable and conclusive expression as in the case of Delusions. The extraordinary affinity between the two members of this Catalan band intensifies their creativity and defines them with their own solid style, and with perfectly structured concepts distributed between the different tasks of composition, staging, promotion and recording responsibility, as the task of Archi Ferrero and Jaume Avellana at the head of Delusions extends from production to the production and management of material for Ballistic, the platform they founded in 2011. 

Ballistic has an interesting cast of names in its catalogue and with releases that have not been worn down by the passing of the years, nevertheless, a great sonic evolution can be appreciated, headed mainly by its top leaders. This does not mean that they have abandoned their principles, the primary style they adopted, but rather that they have been able to adapt their sound to an environment more in line with the current technological development.

Ballistic 8.5, the new EP by Delusions, shows first and foremost the potential of this pair of producers to combine the binary rhythm of techno with an overwhelming, deep, very powerful background and a sound environment typical of industrial textures. Each of the three tracks can be defined in the same way, however, they are completely different, not only for their timbre, but also for the personality and characteristics they apply to each composition.

Huma is the aka of Andrés Satué. Born in Galicia but based in Barcelona, is a sound engineer with an extensive career in musical experimentation,
from his first math-kraut-rock and prog bands, to experimental electronics with his previous project Esquelas and now with Huma. He has released several albums under labels including Bestiarie, ENSMBLE, Matapadre, and now Opal Tapes. He participated in the Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp in Madrid, played at some of the most relevant Spanish experimental
electronics festivals and is co-founder of Hedonic Reversal label where he released most of Huma albums and Bicefal Festival. He also runs a monthly radio show with his label partner Miguel Sueiro at Dublab Barcelona.

Night Shift

Skøgen is the grim and ominous outfit from the minds of Hålbå & Ex.Hale. They conspire against our sanity, letting out their dark and more experimental sides. Live experimental electronic music, that merge ritual, ambient, death/black industrial with obscure beats. All informed with noise and live vocals. Their new effort Path to Self-Destruction is a 41.55 minutes epic slowly developing its malevolent essence via sparse distortions and distant, evocative soundscapes. The track employs dark ambient, drone, noise in order to create a cinematic world upon which subtle orchestration are layered. Majestic and monolithic rhythms meet deafening shrills while we venture in a dark world of the soul and mind. The ending is a cathartic path that guides us to our very bitter end. A cosmic journey in the deepest and most dangerous corner of our experience.
